It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alberta Louise Hunter announce her peaceful passing at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on October 22, 2026, at the age of 92.
Alberta leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with her loving children: Jackie Rossignol (Ron), Robert Hunter (Elsie), John Hunter (Brenda), Liz Patterson (Rae), Gordon Hunter (Bernadette), Trish Tschetter, and Herb Hunter (Shelly), along with their families, who will forever treasure her love, guidance, and devotion.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Hunter in 2012, and by her son, Raymond Hunter in 2024.
Born to the late Laura and Benjamin Smith, Alberta was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her brothers, Joe Smith and his wife Cathy, and Jim Smith and his wife Mary Ellen.
Family was the centre of Alberta’s world. She found her greatest joy in spending time with those she loved, watching them grow through the generations. Alberta also had a passion for music and companionship, and in her spare time she could often be found wherever there was a karaoke microphone and a song to sing. Her enthusiasm, laughter, and love of life brought happiness to many and will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Evergreen Cemetery on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., when Alberta will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, John, and her son, Raymond.
