In keeping with Dennis's wishes, there will be no funeral service.
His family invites those who knew and loved him to remember
him in their own way, perhaps with a flower in bloom, a visit outdoors,
or an evening spent around a fire with good company.
Dennis Drewery, 77, passed away peacefully at his family farm, the place he had always called home.
A proud third-generation farmer, Dennis grew up on the family farm in Blenheim, carrying on a family legacy that was deeply rooted in the land and community he loved. He was the son of the late Russell and Mary Drewery.
Dennis shared 50 years of marriage with his loving wife, Janet, whom he married in 1976. Together, they raised three sons: Tyler (Jen), Branden (Tawnya), and Brett (Emily). His greatest pride and joy continued through his grandchildren, Simon, Tayler, Tatum, Caleb, and Brooke, and his great-grandson, Azrael, who will carry on his legacy.
He will also be remembered by his sister, Helen (the late Wally) Nichol, his late sister, Edna (the late Gary) Hulley, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Throughout his working years, Dennis built a career with Canada Post, where he had the opportunity to work alongside his parents, his wife Janet, and eventually one of his sons. His love for gardening and flowers also led him to share his passion through his work at Country Hearth and Lasting Memories.
Dennis had a special love for animals, especially Boston Terriers, which he proudly bred, along with his many feathered friends. His backyard was home to an assortment of chickens, pigeons, ducks, peacocks, and pheasants. He found great enjoyment in tending to his gardens, watching his flowers grow, and simply taking in the view of the little world he had created around him.
Many of Dennis’s happiest moments were spent right where he belonged — in his backyard, surrounded by his gardens and animals. As the days came to an end, they were often followed by evenings around the fire pit, sharing stories, laughs, and time with family and friends.
Dennis leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him, and a little piece of himself in the farm, gardens, and everything he cared for so deeply.
In keeping with Dennis’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. His family invites those who knew and loved him to remember him in their own way, perhaps with a flower in bloom, a visit outdoors, or an evening spent around a fire with good company.
He may have left the farm, but the memories he planted there will continue to grow.
