Arthur Toland

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of our father, Arthur Maddock Toland On April 18, 2019 at Riverview Gardens, Chatham-Kent, Ontario. His family was by his side in his final moments.
Arthur was born in Dumbartonshire, Scotland, May 18th, 1932, the son of the late Patrick and Lucy (Maddock).    He was pre deceased by his wife Jessie (McNab), and brother James Tolland.
Arthur is survived by his children and their spouses Patricia Molyneaux (Thomas), Douglas Toland (Debbie), and Kevin Toland (Jane).  Grandchildren Sara, Matthew, Ryan, Katherine, Kerri Lynn, Elizabeth and Emma.  Arthur will also be missed by Wee Maggie, his constant companion.
Papa is also survived by great grandchildren Colin, Jackson, James,Anissa, Leela and Nadia.  Also left to mourn are his sister Myra Cloutier and several nieces and nephews and extended family in Scotland and Australia.
The biggest achievement in Arthur’s life was emigrating from Scotland to Canada in 1966 to establish a new life for his young family.  He was very proud of his childrens’ and grandchildrens’ successes in their lives and always fondly remembered the day he became a Canadian citizen.
Arthur was a multi faceted man who enjoyed several pastimes and hobbies.  Perhaps his strongest passion, a love of travel, was triggered by his first overseas trip to Egypt where he proudly served with the Royal Engineers during the Suez Canal conflict followed by various trips to Scotland, Europe and Western Canada. Bible study, photography, fishing, camping, woodworking, gardening  and politics were also of keen interest.
The family is extremely grateful for the care and attention that dad received at Riverview Gardens. For that we will remain forever thankful.
Online condolences for the family and memorial donations may be left at www.blenheimcommunityfuneralhome.com

Friends and family wishing to remember Arthur with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham Kent Animal Rescue
