Peacefully with family by her side, Evelyn passed away on October 15, 2026 at Riverview Gardens.  Our hearts are broken but we are comforted knowing that she is reunited with her husband Richard and her other loved ones that have been waiting for her in heaven.  Even more comforting is knowing her Alzheimer’s journey is over and that she is no longer suffering.

Sometimes a good day isn’t measured in accomplishments, but in memories.

Mom will be forever missed by her daughters Kerry Coholan (Glenn Stephens), Denise Tunstall, Luanne Hay and Lynda Wheeler (Jason).  Evelyn was the best Grandma to Kasey (Mike) McGuire, P.J. Coholan, Brennan Wheeler, Shaelynn (Jeff) St. Amand, Maxx McLaren, Ben Tunstall (Tera), Magdelaine Tunstall, Michael Hay (Hillary) and Great Grandma of Penny, Cole, Claire, Grant, Evangeline, Roman, Jacob, Noah and Aiden.  Always loved and remembered by her nephew Brent (Jane Marie) Ward.

Survived by her sisters-in-law Joyce Salive (late |Joe), Donna Carson (late Ed) and Cindy Finn (late Wayne).

Predeceased by her parents Dennis and Hazel Heward, her sisters Kathleen and Ercell (Gib) Ward, nephew Brad Ward, son-in-law Peter Coholan, granddaughter Erin Coholan Booth and grandson Colin Wheeler.

Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, long car rides with Dad, gardening and baking.  She retired from Sears in 2009 and attended Charing Cross United Church.

Mom, you will be missed.  We will miss your optimism and positivity, your smile, your laugh, amazing strength, words of wisdom “don’t ever give up” and the ability to make the most out of every situation.  We are who we are today because you and Dad loved us.

Thank you to the exceptional staff at Riverview Gardens 6E who walked beside us through this difficult time.

Visitation will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday October 21, 2026 from 1 – 4 & 6 -8 p.m.  A Celebration of Life will be held in November (date and time to be announced).

In lieu of flowers, the family would ask that you donate in Evelyn’s memory to the Charing Cross United Church, the Peace Garden at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Merlin or Operation Smile.

  • Denise & family,
I'm sorry for the loss of your Mother, Evelyn. My mother was on 6E too until May 2026 when she moved to 5W. I always remember Evelyn wanting to hold someone's hand to walk with. She was petite but had a grip that wouldn't let go. May you find comfort knowing she's free from the bondage of her disease. Praying for peace to bring you comfort, strength to face the days ahead and loving memories to hold forever in your hearts.❤
  • Our hearts go out to Evelyn's family and friends.

God bless Bill & Joyce Guerin
