Our dad, Bill English passed away just short of his 93rd birthday at the Blenheim Community Village on December 10, 2024.  A lifelong farmer, his days always began early, and this one was no different, except that he was reunited with the love of his life, our mother Ada (Seney) who passed away in February, 2019.  The last surviving member of the Lorne & Margaret English family, Dad was predeceased by his sisters Elizabeth Huff, Viola Sparks, Florence Laurie, Mary Drewery, Illia Sykes and by his brothers Jack, Ivan and Harold English.

Dad loved his community.  He and Mom always got together with their neighbours on Friday nights to play cards and they helped with any events being held in Charing Cross United Church where they spent every Sunday.    He was a man of few words, but also a man of his word.  His determination to defend what was right and fair made him a respected Reeve of Harwich Township.  He was an avid hunter who loved Manitoulin Island so much that he bought a cabin on a one hundred acre parcel of land there.    In his quiet times, he enjoyed the music of his favourite crooner Frank Sinatra.

Most of all, Dad was a great family man who taught by example.  He loved us as much as we loved him.  He will be missed by his children; Cindy Carnegie, Joy & Butch Segeren, Susan & Keith Richards, Al & Anne English and Rick & Lisa English and our families that includes 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

On Saturday December 14, 2024 at 11:00 am, with the help of Rev Eric Skillings, we will honour Dad’s life at the Charing Cross United Church.  Following the service all are invited to stay for lunch before we as a family take him to his final resting place at Pardoville Cemetery with our Mom.

Family and friends wishing to remember Dad with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Charing Cross United Church since it was near and dear to him.
