Each year money is raised to help the Canadian Cancer Society. One of the ways we raise money locally is through the Blenheim Community Relay For Life which is a unique 12 hour overnight community event which involves teams of 10 people who participate in a non-competitive relay. Participants of all ages take turns walking, running or strolling around a track. Last year over 17,265 Relay For Life teams across Canada raised $51 million dollars. The teams in Blenheim raised an awesome $103,375. Donna Musyj is the Chairperson for this year’s event which will be held at the Blenheim District High School on June 7th from 7 p.m. until 7 a.m. The sponsors for the 2013 Blenheim Community Relay For Life include Sun Life Financial as the Event Sponsor, Blenheim News Tribune as the Media Sponsor, South Kent Wind as the Fight Back Sponsor, Blenheim Community Funeral Home as the Luminary Sponsor, Thompsons Limited as the Survivor Sponsor and The Money Broker and Hyland Seeds as Food Sponsors. In addition to those sponsors, Wayne’s Pizza has again offered to donate pizza to participants at midnight and Brownies Event Catering will donate their services to provide this year’s meal.
