Willem “Bill” Van Loon passed away quietly on July 22, 2023, surrounded by family.
He was only 15 years old when he immigrated to Canada from the Netherlands. He came by himself, and started out his younger years in West Lorne, Ontario, where he met his wife, Irma, who passed away on November 7, 2019. They had been married for 62 years.
He worked for 35 years at the Southwest Regional Centre, Dealtown, Ontario, as an Interior Decorator. He was a well respected person of the Blenheim community, where he coached hockey and refereed soccer. He was also called upon for his amazing Santa impersonation skills, every year being in high demand.
He is survived by his 5 children; Alexander, Sabina, Renata, Torin, and Damian, his 11 grandchildren; Derek, Sacha, Patrick, Vanessa, Joshua, Jordan, Cash, Race, Tate, Makay, and Rivaya and also, 6 great-grandchildren; Delilah, Emerson, Kinsley, Jackson, Theodore, and Imogen.
He will be dearly missed and remembered for all of his accomplishments and love.
Also, Bill’s family is forever grateful for all the help and care we received from the Alzheimers Society, Bayshore, VON, VON E-shift, Carepartners, Elite Total Senior Home Care, and the private help, that were all dedicated to his health and well being. We were truly blessed!
