It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Penny-Lee Wilton (nee Hamilton).  Penny was born on July 17th, 1954 in Mission, B.C. She later moved with her family to the Barrie area and then on to Scarborough, where she crossed paths with her loving husband, Beverly, while working at a camera shop in 1980. The couple married in 1982 and then moved to Blenheim in 1986 where they settled their roots.

Penny was the proud mother of four children; Robin Jones, Meaggan Pettipiece (Brady), Elliot Wilton (Ashley), and Lauren Piett (Riley). She had 6 grandchildren; Lilly, Cooper, Natalie, Chase, CJ, and Chloe, with another expected to arrive this month. She leaves behind two siblings; Rick Hamilton and Cindy-Lou Siemens. She was predeceased by her sister, Toni-Lynn Thorpe, her brother, Corby Hamilton, and her parents, Audrey and John Hamilton. She also treasured many beloved extended family members including nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Penny built a career in real estate where she enjoyed countless successes and took deep pride in providing caring, professional, and exemplary service to her clients. She was known to go the extra mile, and was unanimously respected and adored by her colleagues. She was a past president of The Chatham-Kent Association of Realtors and the recipient of numerous awards throughout her career including, but not limited to, the Royal LePage National Chairman’s Club, an honour reserved for the company’s top one percent in Canada.

Penny was one of the founders of The Blenheim Youth Centre and spent many years as its president. She took great pride in helping the community’s youth and giving back in such an impactful and meaningful way. Her dedication to this effort will forever have a positive affect on our town.

A woman of many talents and devotions, she enjoyed filling her free time with countless hobbies including sewing, making the best strawberry jam, playing both slo-pitch and volleyball, as well as volunteering for various local charitable endeavours.

More than anything else, Penny found immeasurable joy in her marriage, children, and
grandchildren. She spent many afternoons and evenings at the ballpark watching Bev
coaching and competing for his men’s fastpitch team known as Jukebox Unlimited. She was highly involved in her kid’s extracurricular activities, having acted as the seamstress for Robin’s childhood precision skating team, cheering on Meaggan as she won an NCAA national championship in softball and later attending the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney where Meaggan donned the maple leaf and competed for her country, supporting Elliot as he accomplished a lifelong dream of winning a dirt track race at South Buxton Raceway, and countless hours cheering on Lauren goaltending for Blenheim Minor Hockey teams and playing for high school volleyball teams. In her later years, she never missed a chance to support her grandchildren as they participated in sports and other activities as their biggest fan.

Her presence was comforting, her spirit inspiring, and her selflessness knew no bounds. She was truly “one of the good ones”. Her determined mindset and resilient heart carried her through her most challenging days with grace. We mourn her passing, but cherish her memory and take comfort in the positive impact she made on countless lives. May she rest in peace.

The Wilton family invites you to a visitation on Thursday, April 10th from 2-5pm and 6-9pm at The Blenheim Community Funeral Home. A celebration of life will take place at a later date. To honour Penny’s legacy, please consider a donation to The Blenheim Youth Centre. It will be sincerely appreciated and faithfully applied.

I met Penny in baseball many years ago as we were on the same team. It was there that I learned how fun she was. Later when the Blenheim Youth Centre opened we somewhat reconnected as I had volunteered there for probably 10 years. All through the years since way back then, when we popped into each other, we would always have some sort of conversation that was always meaningful. Bev and family we are very sorry for your loss. BEV& FAMILY..I am so sorry to to hear of penny's passing. What can I say about Penny... she was a a true lady with a very generous heart. Gentle soul and smile and a twinkle in her eye that would light up everyone life. I was on the board with her at the youth center and just wTching her love for the children made me proud to call her a friend. She touched so many lives . And I am eternaky grateful that she touched my life in such a small wY but left a huge impression. After she sold our house she found out how much we missed our lilac trees and she always brought over a bouquet for mom. And she made sure she got some madks to us at the start of covid. After mom died she sent me a beautiful mother's day card knowing I was alone. I still have that card tucked away. It's those little things that made penny someone I was proud to know and love. ...sending big hugs and love to all of you. And may you know that everybody will be missing this angel.

Penny was simply an awesome human being in every way. Kind, driven, thoughtful, generous, and a pillar of her community. On numerous occasions I asked her to part of different initiatives and the answer was always "count me in". She was always the one that was reliable and would show up with her sleeves rolled up, and a smile on her face. She was never scared to tell it as it was...we will sincerely miss her amazing spirit, her never ending efforts to help those around her, and that amazing smile that alway lit up the room. She left this world better than she found it. My deepest condolences to the family, and to all those that had the honor of knowing this wonderful person.

We just have no words. But we have great memories of a lot of really good times, whether it was playing games our self or watching the kids. We sewed costumes, knit sweaters, braided hair, and drove millions of miles. No one could get the grass stains out of white ball pants like Penny. She will be missed for so many things and by so many people. Rest peacefully Penny.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, Bev and family. I've been out of touch for a while but I had heard that Penny had not been well in recent years. I know that she has lived a very full life with you and the kids and that is the best that any of us can ask. Hold onto your memories of Penny and the many gifts that she shared with you, your family and friends.

I first met Penny when I worked in real estate decades ago. She then helped our eldest and her husband find their first and second home. One thing stayed true throughout the years….every conversation involved updates on her children and grandchildren. Her family clearly was her world. May her memory bring you comfort. An absolute wonderful lady has left this world. Always a pleasure to be around. From growing up with the Wilton family, to buying both my first and second houses from her, to having my daughters become friends with her granddaughters….her reach and impact throughout this community will continue and never be forgotten. Sincere condolences from the Sheppy family.

We all mourn the loss of an extraordinary friend and Though our paths crossed serendipitously in childhood, Penny's impact on my life was profound. We first met as I attended school with her daughter, sharing moments at field trips and track days. Years would pass, and as I embarked on my real estate journey, there she was, the familiar and warm smile greeting me with a hug. Her memory was as sharp as ever, immediately asking about my mom – a testament to the genuine care she held for those around her. Penny taught me invaluable lessons: to be independent, to adhere to rules, and to uphold a high personal standard. Over time, I also became close to her son and daughter-in-law, forming cherished friendships that now carry an indescribable weight in this time of loss. Penny was more than a friend; she was a force of nature whose presence is deeply missed but never forgotten. The world feels a little less bright today, and my heart aches for her family and everyone who was touched by her incredible spirit. 💔

Our condolences to Penny’s family & friends.
