Surrounded by love, Patricia Ann Ryckman of Blenheim peacefully slipped away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Sunday, September 18. While she would kindly remind you that a lady never reveals her age, she collected 71 years filled with love, loss, and a healthy dose of laughter.

She is survived by her son Jeff Dunlop (Candace), sisters Marie Smith (Leonard), Gloria Anson (late Ed), Stacie Beaton (Doug), Tami St. Lewis (Stacey), and brother Ken (late Linda). She is predeceased by husbands Michael Dunlop and Fred Ryckman, son Michael Dunlop, parents William and Dona Nealey, as well as siblings Fran Stothart, William Nealey II, and Dona Bechard. Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews in the Nealey, Dunlop, and Ryckman families and by partner-in-crime Dorothy Ivison.

Born in a puddle, but eventually settling in Blenheim, she was the fourth child in the Nealey clan but was considered the glue that held nine siblings together. She lived briefly on the Jersey coast as a toddler, cementing her love for the ocean. A determined and resolute worker by inheritance, Pat worked at the Southwest Regional Centre for a time and was proudly employed at Mallory Industries for over 30 years. In her retirement, Pat enjoyed her time as a volunteer with New Beginnings.

She was a dedicated and proud mother to her two sons, and “mom” to many who made short visits or extended stays. After the tragic loss of her husband Michael, fate intervened and she reunited with her high school sweetheart Fred. Together, they finished a beautiful love story and discovered a thirst for travel. One of her favourite places was the Lido deck of a cruise ship, surrounded by friends and family, with a boat drink in her hand.

Family and friends are invited to gather around her once again at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Thursday, September 22, 2022, where visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. Visitation will take place again on Friday, September 23, 2022, from 12 p.m. until the time of Patricia’s funeral service, officiated by Pastor Bill Terris, which will begin at 1:00 p.m. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends wishing to remember Patricia with a memorial donation are asked to consider New Beginnings ABI and Stroke Recovery Association http://newbeginnings-cksl.com/donate/ or Chatham-Kent Hospice https://chathamkenthospicefoundation.com/donations/

Condolences

Jeff and family, sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. God Bless

My condolences to the Nealey family.

Condolences to all Pat's family and friends. She was a special lady

A nicer woman you will never meet. Momma Pat took in and watched over many "adopted" sons and daughters... myself being amongst the huge numbers. Her life will always be remembered as one full of life and laughter... and I will NEVER forget her kindness to me over the years.

We have been great friends for many many years. Pat was a very special lady who will be missed dearly. Jeff, Candace and family, we are so sorry for your loss. May the many happy memories that you made together be a consolation today and all the days ahead. We send you are sincere condolences and sympathies.

My sincere condolences to the family. I had worked with her son Mike for years before his passing. He had a close relationship with his family and once I met Pat, I could see he had inherited many of her genuine qualities. Pat always opened up her home to visitors. She was very welcoming and friendly. May she rest in peace.

Stacey, Tami and the rest of the Nealey family...I am so sorry for your loss of Pat. Hugs to everyone

Jeff and family, and Pat’s siblings and families. We are sending our deepest condolences to all of you during this most difficult time. May you keep her memories close to your hearts, she will always be watching over you. 🙏. We met up with her and Dorothy in Saskatchewan in June, we were on our way to Alberta, they were on their way to B. C. Could believe it half way across the provinces meeting up but just by chance. So glad we did. We had a wonderful chat. Did catch up on line after we got back home. Then I didn’t hear from her, I thought she might have been I’ll as she told me her arthritis was getting rough for her, or she just got busy because she always returned my messages. She was one very tough lady , she endured so much with losing Mike, Michael, and then Freddy. Her kindness, caring, thoughtfulness and loving ways was her nature. I’m saddened by her loss . Pat you have earned your wings ,now go fly with the Angels 😇. Be reunited with your family. Peacefully Rest my friend. 🙏💔 . Barb
