Lyle Lipa, a long time resident of Blenheim passed away peacefully at McGarrell Nursing Home in London where he resided the last 2 years. Lyle was born in Straznice, Czechoslovakia April 18, 1926 and immigrated to Canada in 1930 with his mother and sister Agnes, following their father who had made a home for them in Blenheim. Lyle loved his family, was an avid curler and participated in the Legion Provincial’s at the age of 71. He also enjoyed his summer past time of golf where he represented the Branch 185 legion in another Provincial competition in his late 60’s. He was loved by his family, predeceased by his loving wife Mary nee Vanbiesbrouck and his son (late) Gary, as well as his two daughters Diane (Ken) and Connie (Denis). He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He will be remembered for his devilish smile and gruff exterior who had a big, big heart.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Blenheim Community Retirement home where he resided for approximately 5 years and the staff at McGarrell Nursing home in London for their care and compassion during his 2 year stay.
Friends and family will gather in a celebration of his life on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley St. in Blenheim at 10:30 am (visitation) 11:30 am (service) officiated by Reverend Bill Terris, followed by a luncheon at the Blenheim Legion. Private burial to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or to the Alzeimers Society.
