Lillian Armstrong of Blenheim passed away on Monday September 9, 2024.    She was born 86 years ago in Toronto to Terrance & Lillian (Russell) O’Rafferty.  She was the proud mother of Joy Fields, Kim Cameron, Norman Rudman and the late Robin Rudman (1994).  She will be remembered fondly by her grandchildren Nolan (Jessie), Emery (Marcie), Miranda, Jessica (Jacob), Nichole, Shawn (Cassie) John, Sean and Alex (Katie), her great-grandchildren Kolton, William, Mia, Missy, Irelynn, Nora, Huron, Lottie, Maise and Anasia and by her great-great grandchildren.  She is survived by her sister Maureen Dulmage and her brother John O’Rafferty (Susan).  She was predeceased by her husbands Gerald McDonald in 1977 and George Armstrong in 2007, her sisters Elizabeth and Joan and her brother Terrance.

Lillian was proud of the Irish heritage that came from her father’s side of the family.  She was known for her warm hospitality and friendliness, her love of music and the odd time spent in a pub watching her beloved Toronto Maple Leafs play hockey.  Life wasn’t always easy for her but she never let that stand in her way of helping others.  She worked hard in life for her family, her careers included repairing fishing nets for Goodisons, cooking at the Cadillac Hotel, planting tomatoes and working in retail.  She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185 in Blenheim, an avid pool player and had an affinity for dogs, especially her shih tzu Missy who never left her side.

Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 p.m.  A Funeral Service for Lillian will take place at the Funeral Home on Thursday September 12, 2024 at 3:00 p.m.

Cremation will follow and a private interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery where Lillian will be laid to rest with her husband Gerald “Jack” and daughter Robin.

I will always remember Lily bird and her wonderful smile that always was bright and loving as she would greet me at Fat Jimmy's... I would always share my meals with her even if she said she had already ate, as I wanted to make sure she was eating ;) .... Seeing her in the Giant tiger while shopping with her son .... Always stopping me to say hi and make small talk making sure I was doing ok ....all the while I was the one worried about how she had been doing.... May u rest in heavenly peace and wear those beautiful wings with pride XOXO love u Lily Bird 💜

My condolences to all of Lils family. She was a wonderful person who was always willing to help. Many times she helped me (and other staff) open or close The Cadillac. It was always a laugh to see her get up on the dancefloor and do a jig. I will always remember her with fondness. Farewell Lil.
