John Girard

A photo of John Girard

John Edward Girard of Erieau passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on February 18, 2023.     Born 61 years ago to the late Edward Peter & Mary (McKeinese) Girard, John was one of three siblings and was predeceased by his sister Betty Ann Collins in 2021, his brother Peter in 2010 and his sister-in-law Barb Girard in 2015.

Two of John’s proudest moments in life were the times he became a father to his daughters Elisha Girard (Jenn Denelisky) and Misty Girard.  He leaves them with good memories of their time spent in Erieau…he taught them how to fish, the true value of family and friends, and a sense of peace that can be found by sitting outside by a fire and enjoying the smells of the lake air.  He was a good dad who made cherry cheesecakes for their visits and who baited their hooks because they thought that part of fishing was gross.  Their memories also include lots of dinners at Betty Anne & Larry’s and visits with Pete, Barb and Chrystal.

John was a quiet person and was proud to be a lifelong resident of Erieau.  He was content to sit outside in his chair by himself as much as he was happy to be the place for his friends to hang out.  He will be remembered always by his brother-in-law Larry Collins and his nieces and nephews.

Johns wishes for this stage of his life were simple.  Cremation has taken place and he will be remembered quietly by his family.  His urn will be buried in Evergreen Cemetery with his dad.
