  • Our sincere condolences to John and the family. RIP Gloria. She was a wonderful lady.
  • My deepest condolences to the Boswell family, especially John, aka dad and Henry. I have had the honour of calling Gloria my mum for over 10 years. This was something she did not take lightly and when I asked her if I could call her mum she thought long and hard about it before saying yes! I can tell you, when she loved you, she did so with her whole heart. For almost the past four years I spent one week a month with her, visiting her at Blenheim Community Care. Mum wasn’t one to partake in activities but one day every month she did chair Zumba with me and a few other residents in the recreation room. She laughed and danced right beside me and proudly told everybody I was her daughter from another family! I looked forward to each moment I was able to spend with her. I will fondly remember the mani and pedis making sure to not cut her nails to short and only use bright RED nail polish. I thoroughly enjoyed bringing her a daily hot chocolate and treat. Our summer trips uptown for Chinese food or broasted chicken after she received her new wheelchair were filled with laughter as we joked that Blenheim sidewalks were not made for wheelchairs, bumping along the sidewalks. I loved when mum finally went uptown and met dad at the park and how happy I felt watching them as they held hands and listened to the band playing music in the park. Many times my daughter Ru would make the four hour drive with me and give her grams a mani/pedi, rub her arms and feet with cream or just sit and listen to stories mum would tell her about her past, words of wisdom she shared and stories from her youth. My two younger children benefited from her wisdom in regards to how important education was and thanks to her, both received honours in school, which I believe is due to her insistence on how smart they were, especially my son Jonah and that they could do it if they set their minds to it. She has been a huge part of the Shrewsbury community and loved by many but for my family in particular she has been a true blessing and saving grace. She will be missed dearly, but because of her love and ability to accept my family as her own, we will have FAMILY memories that will last a lifetime, ones that we otherwise wouldn’t not have experienced. Rest In Peace mum, you will not be forgotten.
