Corey “Candyman” Wilkins

A photo of Corey “Candyman” Wilkins

Corey Scott Wilkins of Blenheim passed away on Sunday November 5, 2023 at the age of 61 years.  He was the son of the late Rose (Chilcott) Wilkins who passed away just thirteen days before him, and the late Kenneth Junior Wilkins in 2011.  He is survived by his sister Sheri Huffman (Greg), his brothers Jeff (late Diane), David (Kathleen) and many nieces and nephews.

Corey was dubbed “Candy Man” during his years of delivering for Courtney’s Candy.  From there he went on to work at the Beer Store and for Hector & Marilyn Delanghe at Delhaven Orchards.  He made lots of friends wherever he went and never passed up an opportunity to have fun.  He will be remembered for his love of animals, especially “Pete”, his Jack Russell Terrier and for his no B.S. opinion of Canadian politics.

Cremation has taken place.  A private family graveside service will take place at the Springfield Cemetery where Corey will be laid to rest with his Mom and Dad.

If you wanted to honour the memory of Corey, don’t forget to vote in the next federal election.  Also, adopt a pet if you can, but if you can’t, then consider supporting the Chatham-Kent Animal Rescue www.ckanimalrescue.com

Condolences

I am sorry to hear of Corey's passing. Please accept my condolences Sheri, family and close friends. RIP Corey

My deepest condolences to his loved ones

Corey was a first cousin to me. Unfortunately, we remained pretty much unknown to each other. One reason being there is an age gap, and of course when we are young we didn’t hang out with those much younger than us. And there was geography. Physical distance never facilitated togetherness . Regardless of the reasons for not knowing each other, Cory and I will always be cousins. And family is the most important. The comments of others simply validate the good man he was. May Cory’s soul rest in peace.

May the memory of your loved one live on in your heart . Corey was very important to the small variety stores . At Mighty Jim's we often think of Corey and the Blue truck of Candy !! Mighty Jim's Variety, Joannie Wonnacott and Staff

So sorry to hear about Corey's passing. He was the best "Candyman". My thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time. (Marg's Variety in Rodney)

I was both shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Corey; I first met him on the beach with his buddies when we were younger. We borrowed his frisbee and then we all got talking, next thing we knew we were invited to a party and the rest was history. Corey drove for Coke when my Niece was a baby; they had given each of the drivers at the time an A&W Rootbeer Bear ...... Corey gave my Niece that bear (she loved it). We kept in touch over the years, which I was so greatful for because a friendship like ours was hard to find. May you Rest In Peace Corey ..... keep the party going until we meet again

So sorry to hear about Coreys passing, it was always fun chatting with him when he delivered his confections to the Cafeteria at John McGregor High School.
