Anna Ternoey

It is with the greatest of sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Anna Shirley Ternoey, who passed away at home on October 24, 2023, at the age of 79.

Anna Ternoey was born November 15, 1943 in Chatham, the youngest of 6 children to the late Firmin and Anna (Horak) Dejonghe.
In 1965 she married the love of her life John (Jack) Ternoey of Blenheim. Anna was the best friend and mother to Nicôle and the late Scott Heuvelmans(Sept. 24, 2023). Predeceased by a baby son. Cherished Grandma (aka GM) of Anastasia (Noah) Leschyna and Josh (Megan Arsenault) Heuvelmans. Anna was able to become a proud Great Grandma (aka GG) to Ellianna Leschyna.

Daughter-in-law of the late Henry and late Madeline Ternoey. She is survived by sisters Marie (Joe) Korpan, Jeanie (late Lucien) Havens and brother Firmin (Diane) Dejonghe. Predeceased by sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaretha (Adolf) Kucera, Bertha (Francis) Allemeersch. Much loved in-law to Shirley (late Ron) Drew, Patricia (Larry) Ennett, James (Marlene) Ternoey, late Cynthia Pilbeam, Mary Anne Bell and Gord Pilbeam. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews, many of which she babysat quite a few years ago.

When Anna started her career as a bookkeeper and secretary it was short lived until Nicôle came on the scene. She then became a full-time mother and farm bookkeeper. Her volunteer work with St Mary’s CWL and Palliative care at St Joseph Hospital kept her busy with her very special friends.
Throughout Anna’s life she faced many medical difficulties but she never complained, only gave a smile. She had a knack for hearing the woes of strangers not needing to share her own. She was gentle, kind and quick witted.

A funeral mass will be held at St Mary’s Church in Blenheim on Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 11:00am with cremation to follow. A private family interment at Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
