Albert Postma of Blenheim passed away peacefully on February 16, 2022 just one day before his 88th birthday.

Dad was born in The Netherlands which is where he met our mother, Ruby.  They shared over 65 years together before Mom passed away in 2019.  Our family began with five children; Trudy Timmermans (John), Fred who passed away on February 1st, his wife Wilma and his twin brother George (Hetty), Ron Postma (Linda) and Teresa Saunders (Scott).  Dad was the proud grandfather and great-grandfather of 63 children, all of whom he was able to leave with a smile when they visited him last weekend.  If there is any consolation in Dad’s passing, it is that he has gone home to be with Mom, the person he gave credit to for the best years of his life.

Dad grew up with six siblings and is survived by his sister Wilma Radersma (Doug) and his brother Sandy Postma (Mary).  He was predeceased by Jane & John Hoogsteen, Henry & Mary Postma, Renze & Marge Postma and George Postma (survived by Anne).  He was a man of strong faith and a long-time member of the Blenheim Christian Reformed Church.  He owned his own business Postma Concrete and as a result of his mentorship, his children all pursued successful careers as business owners themselves.

Visitation for Albert will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Sunday February 20, 2022 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. and at the Blenheim Christian Reformed Church on Monday February 21st from 10:00 – 11:00 just prior to the Funeral Service at 11:00.

Friends wishing to remember Albert with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham Christian School because that was something that was very important to him.

Condolences

So sorry to hear of Alberts passing. I met Albert while caring for Ruby . I always enjoyed my visits with them. My prayers go out to the entire family.

To all of Albert's family, and friends. I am truly heartbroken to read of this loss. Albert has been a dear friend and I enjoyed his visits each time he would stop by. He would often bring me fish he had cooked, or potatoes and kale, or whatever he was up to that day. We will miss his smile, his strength, his stories, and especially his friendship. I am incredibly sorry that we didn't know in time, to pay our respects to this amazing man. Much love to his family.

Our thoughts are with your entire family in this time of loss.

Your dad is remembered with so much fondness. My sympathies to the whole family. It was good to see you yesterday.

Our condolences to the Postma family

To all the Postma family; Shirley and I offer our deepest condolences on your loss. I considered Albert to be a good friend not to mention one of my biggest customers. I used to chase king salmon and when I would get a good one I would keep it for Albert. He’d smoke it and give it to family and friends. We’re gonna miss him. Till we meet again.

Ron, Linda and all the Postma families. We would like to extend our sincere condolences.

My sincere sympathy to Theresa and Scott and all the Postma families

My sincere condolences on the passing of Albert. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time.

Albert was such a special man inside and out. He did our basement when we built our home I learned the true nature of the man. He did not want a cold drink on what was one of the hottest day ever but said oh no cup of coffee hot that is. Anyone who has built a home knows the basement of course is the first thing done but bless Albert he let us pay as we had the money so we could continue with the build. Absolutely loved everyone like family. God Bless you all as you celebrate his life.

Dear family, so sorry for your loss, prayers wilma

Sending all our love and sincere condolences to each and everyone of the Postma families. Your Dad was a fantastic person with a huge heart of gold and that laugh and smile I will treasure forever. Growing up with this family has left me with so many fond memories including that big slab of ice cream after Sunday lunch and the adventures of our Dad's raising those veal calves. What a great accomplishment/honour to be a grand and great-grandfather to 63 children. You will truly be missed Mr. Postma. Your legacy carries on. Hugs to you all and especially Teresa at this time of sorrow. Love Cindy and Mike
