Inez Kathleen Boyes passed away at her home on Wednesday April 26, 2017. She was born in Tilbury East Township 92 years ago to her parents the late Thomas & Elizabeth (Shivas) Hope; raised in an era when hard work and a sense of community were the foundations of life. Inez spent many happy years being married to her husband Alex Boyes, farming in the Blenheim area until they retired and moved into town in 1963. Alex predeceased her in 1998.

Family was very important to Inez. She will be missed by her children Kathi & Ron Leciago of Blenheim, Alex & Gladys Boyes of Long Point and Jim & Jeanne Boyes of Stoney Point, by her grandchildren Greg & Vicki, Kara & Diego, Michael, Megan & Matthew, Terry & Janet and Tanny as well as her great-grandchildren Logan, Emma, Justin, Kale, Melinda and Kainan.

Inez was one of nine children, being the sister and sister-in-law of Carol & Glen Walters, Tom Hope, Blake Hope, Harry Hope, Joyce Hope and Jane Hope. She was predeceased by Winnifred Allison, Marjorie Allison, Kenneth Hope, Douglas Hope, Evelyn Hope, June Hope and Shirley Hope. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

To know Inez was to love her. She had a kind and generous heart. She didn’t hesitate to share whatever it was that she was fortunate enough to have herself, whether it was produce from her garden that she gave to those in need or the time and encouragement that she gave to the children who she babysat. She was known for her shortbread at Christmas time and her butter tarts whenever she made them. When she was in her sixties and Alex was unable to drive, she got her own drivers license so that she could be the chauffeur. She will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home for visitation on Sunday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Inez will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery where Inez will be laid to rest with Alex. Acting as pallbearers for their grandmother will be Greg, Michael, Matthew, Kale, Kainan and Diego.
