Peacefully at Blenheim Community Village on Saturday, April 17th, 2010, Agnes (MacMillan) Stuckey-Coleman, in her 84th year, wife of the late Glenn Stuckey (1975) and LeRoy Coleman (1990). Agnes’ faith in God sustained her and was a lifelong member of the United Church and the choir. She was a teacher, traveller, artist and someone who enjoyed music, golf and bridge. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185, the Ladies Auxiliary, Women’s Retired Teachers’ Organization, the Legion Villa Board, the Liberal Party, Blenheim Seniors Centre, Blenheim Library, Blenheim Golf Course and the Blenheim and Community Freedom Library and Museum. Predeceased by her parents William & Lizzie Aldcorn MacMillan, her brothers, Jack, Donald and Angus and sister, Isabelle Thomson. Sadly missed by her 6 children: Heather & Norm Hudson (Williams Lake, BC), Valerie & Tom Maher (Regina, SK), Glenn & Linda Stuckey (Halifax, NS), Nan Stuckey (Chatham, ON), Shawn & Olga Stuckey (Blenheim, ON) and Mark Stuckey (Rondeau, ON). Her special daughters: Wendy Holmes and Kari McElrea. Her 11 grand-children: Matthew Davy, Jason & Bev Davy, Stephanie & Steve Pekrul, Patrick Maher, Jade Stuckey, Kaylyn Stuckey, Adam Stuckey, Joshua & Sophia Stuckey, Alexandra Stuckey, Max Stuckey, and Jessica & Mike Levesque. And her 6 great-grandchildren: Logan Maher-Foster, Rylan Davy, Jennie Pekrul, John Levesque, Riley Stuckey and Matty Levesque. She will also be missed by her brother Ranald and his wife Joan, and by sisters-in-law Bernie & June, as well as many nephews and nieces and great and great-great nephews and nieces. And by the whole Coleman Clan: sister-in-law Mildred, and step-children: Penny & John Deman, Chris & Sandi Coleman, Lloyd Coleman, and Rick Coleman. And 6 Coleman grandchildren & 7 great-grandchildren. Resting at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home. Visitation Monday, April 19th 7-9pm and Tuesday, April 20th from 1-4pm and 7-9pm. Legion Ladies Auxiliary Memorial Service: 7pm Tues. Funeral Service at the Blenheim United Church on Wednesday, April 21st at 11am. Interment to follow in the family plot in Evergreen Cemetery, Blenheim. In lieu of flowers, a charitable donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Chatham-Kent or the charity of your choice would be Agnes’ wish.

Alexandre Joseph Real Dagenais passed away at home on Thursday April 8, 2010. Alex was born in the Township of East Ferris 76 years ago. He met his wife Rose Ann (Vidler) while working on the Erieau Pier and they would have celebrated their 48th wedding anniversary this year. Alex is the proud father of Tim & Kim Dagenais and will be missed by his grandsons Michael Steward and Daniel Dagenais as well as his great grandson Carter Michael Steward. He is survived by his sisters Betty Ann & Wayne Storey of Powasson and Evelin Reeves of North Bay and by his brothers Leo & Josie Dagenais of Toronto and Charlie & Rhea Dagenais of Powasson. He is predeceased by his sister Margaret Dagenais and by his brother in law Jack Reeves. In keeping with Alex’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Honoré “Henry” Alphonse Koekuyt of Chatham and formerly of Blenheim passed away on Wednesday April 7, 2010. Born 81 years ago in Staples, Ontario to the late Marie & Theophiel Koekuyt. Henry was predeceased by his wife Eileen (Larke) in November 2005. Surviving are his children Nancy La Forge and her husband Dan of Arkona, Linda O’Dell and her husband Allen of Richmond Hill, Elaine VanDeHogen and her husband Jason also of Richmond Hill and by sons Michael Koekuyt and his wife Yolanda of St. Thomas, John Koekuyt and his wife Cathy of Chatham and Peter Koekuyt and his wife Angela of Beamsville. Grandfather will be missed by eight grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews. Also surviving is Henry’s brother Julien Koekuyt of Chatham, his sisters in law Margaret Koekuyt of Grande Pointe and Marion Fuerth of Essex and his friend Evelyn Couture of Pain Court. Predeceased by his brother Gerard Koekuyt, sister in law Leona Koekuyt and brother in law Bob Fuerth. Visitation for Mr. Koekuyt will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Friday April 9, 2010 from 2:00 – 4:00 & 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish prayers will be held at 2 p.m. and Knights of Columbus prayers will be held at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday April 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church. Interment to follow in Pardoville Union Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, friends wishing to make a memorial donation are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes Association.

Ablett, Dr Gary – a long-time resident of Blenheim passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family, late Sunday, April 4, 2010, at the age of 58, following an inspiring battle with brain cancer. Gary left this world knowing that he was loved deeply by his wife Jane of 34 years, and sons Jeffrey, with his fiancé Kerri, and Gregory, all of Vancouver. Gary, predeceased by his mother Gene, leaves behind his father, Richard Ablett of Burlington, and father-in-law, Frank Talbourdet of Blenheim. He also leaves his brother Steve and his wife Jackie, their daughters Elise and Taylor, and extended family throughout Canada.

Gary earned his doctorate at the University of Guelph and served for a decade as Director at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus. A professor, researcher and consultant in the field of soybean genetics, he will be remembered for his vision and contribution to agriculture and a deep commitment to higher learning. Gary took pride in the work of the students he mentored, and celebrated their achievements. He was the recipient of numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career, including recently being named Agriculturist of the Year. An avid golfer, Gary will be fondly remembered by his golf buddies and for his dedication to the Blenheim Golf Course.

Visitation will be at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, Thursday, April 8, between 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 7:00 – 9:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at the Rudy H. Brown Rural Development Centre at the University of Guelph, Ridgetown Campus on Friday, April 9 at 1:30 PM. A private interment at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim will take place Saturday, April 10. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Gary to the Ridgetown Campus Agri-Food Foundation (University of Guelph) or the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (www.braintumour.ca) would be greatly appreciated.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wife and mother, Mary Vaughan on Friday April 2, 2010. Mom was born in Wallaceburg 77 years ago to Howard and Helena Elliott. Throughout her life she has been a hard worker. She met our Dad Leslie Vaughn while working in a tobacco field in Tillsonburg. Together they raised four children; Dianne Kuypers-Vaughan, Doreen & Robin Edwards and Howard & Diana Vaughan all of Chatham and Ronald & Deborah Vaughan of Blenheim. Mom was a loving and caring person who enjoyed knitting, quilting and gardening but her family always came first. She loved her grandchildren Harry Verburg, Thomas & Kathy Russelo, Roger Russelo, Katie Lucier, Kurt Lucier, Dale Edwards, Brent Edwards, Kelsey Edwards, Brooke Edwards, Maddalene Vaughan, Leslie Vaughan, Jo-Jo Vaughan, Kelsey-Lynn Vaughan, Todd & Shannon Walukiewicz, David & Diane Fahey, Shae-Lynn Vaughan, Shantel Vaughan and Ronald Vaughan and her great grandchildren Breyden Lumley, Quinn Fahey, Kevin Fahey and Allie Walukiewicz. Mom and Dad worked side by side owning their own fishing businesses, first WW and then H&R which is now run by Howard and Ron. They also owned Vaughan Fisheries until the last number of months when Mom has dedicated her time to taking care of our dad. Mom is survived by her sisters and brothers Leah Weaver, Alva & Fred Oliver, George Elliott and Harold & Rosella Elliott. She is predeceased by her sister Annie & Chuck Burroughs, her brother in law Frank Weaver and by her sister in law Linda Elliott. We invite our family and friends for visitation at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Tuesday April 6 from 7 – 9 p.m. and again on Wednesday April 7 from 12 – 2 p.m. A Funeral Service for Mom will follow visitation at 2 p.m. Cremation will follow. Cassandra Janine Marie Leitans of Chatham passed away on Saturday March 27, 2010 at the age of 19. Cassie is the much loved daughter of Lyn & Arthur Leitans of Chatham and sister of Jessica Lynne Marie Leitans at home. She was predeceased by her twin brother Benjamin Robert John Leitans at birth. Cassie had a special bond with her Meme, Delores Demers of Chatham. She will also be missed by her Papa, Robert Leitans and Magda Riets of London and her Great Meme, Adeline Cartier of Chatham. Cassie is loved by many Aunts, Uncles and cousins. She is reunited with her Papa, Arsene Demers and her Grandma, Aina Leitans in Heaven. Cassie was a student at The Pines where she excelled in academics. She loved to debate the rights and wrongs of the world with her family. She will be missed dearly by all who loved her. A private family service will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday March 31, 2010. Earnestine Margaret (Smith) Lachine, a resident of Copper Terrace, daughter of the late Roy and Margaret Smith passed away peacefully at the CKHA on Monday March 15, 2010. Cherished mom of her daughters Cathy & Wilf Harback (Chatham) and Lorrie & Ron Little (Blenheim) and daughter-in-law Linda Lachine (Ingersoll). Predeceased by her husband Leao Lachine (1997) and son Jim (2009) and sister Lorraine (1996). Loved by grandsons Matthew Little, John (Tonnyua) Lachine and granddaughter Susan Little. Devoted to her great-granddaughters Corine and Claire. Also survived by her sister-in-law Rosemary Burrell (Toronto) and brother-in-law Stewart and Yvonne Lachine (Chatham). Will be missed by numerous nieces & nephews. Long time resident of Charing Cross and member of Charing Cross United Church. Barbara (Sanderson) Cote of Chatham passed away on Saturday March 13, 2010. Barbara was born in Guelph 74 years ago to her late parents Harold and Rose (Windle) Sanderson. She married her childhood sweetheart Pat Cote and they raised their four children; Donna West and her husband Richard of Haliburton, Debra Haskell of Chatham, Karen Cote of Chatham and Patty Cote-Duncanson and her husband Scott of Cambridge. Barbara and Pat moved their family to Merlin in 1967 where Pat was stationed with the O.P.P. After Pat predeceased Barbara on June 12, 1990 Barbara stayed in the Merlin area until her move to Chatham in 2003. She enjoyed going to Bingo, collecting teddy bears and the company of her dog Buddy and her cats TJ and Jen. Barbara is survived by thirteen grandchildren; Nicole Wilton, Jayme Barnes, Jessica Bezzo, Greg Haskell, Jason Haskell, Pat Haskell, Kristin Haskell, Adrien Paquette, Andre Paquette, Matt Buchanan, Robert Buchanan, Kevin Edwards and Chris Edwards, by twelve great-grandchildren Dalton, Cole, Bryton, Noah, Quinton, Kylie, Kyla, Shalynne, Ethan, Katelynn, Kaden and Sydney, by her son-in-law Paul Paquette, her sister Rose Young and her brother Robert & Renee Sanderson. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Rick Haskell in 2007 and by her great-grandson Bryce Buchanan just one month ago. Barbara’s family invite family and friends to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home for visitation on Tuesday March 16 from 7 – 9 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday March 17, 2010 at 11 a.m. Interment in Stewart Cemetery between Merlin and Valetta.
