Rene Derkzen, beloved husband of Alice (Miller) Derkzen passed away with quiet courage at his home on Monday August 23, 2010 at the age of 69 years. Rene is the loving father of Tamara Derkzen & Shawn Thomson and grandfather of Olivia Derkzen Thomson of Ottawa. He will be missed by his brother Hank & Judi Derkzen his sister Dieny & Eugene Putman of Blenheim, his brother in laws Les & Fran Miller of Victoria B.C. and Ray & Dayle Miller of Baden. Rene was predeceased by his parents Herman & Maria Derkzen and by his brother in law and sister in law Kenneth & Mary Miller. He will be remembered by his nieces and nephews Erik Derkzen, Dena Derkzen, Jeanette Hodgson, Nancy Green, Charlotte Miller, Jeff Miller, Shirley Hayes and Brian Miller and by many very special friends. Visitation will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church on Thursday August 26, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Friends wishing to remember Rene with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Laura Marie (Reynolds) (Brown) Vidler of Erieau passed away in Wallaceburg on Friday August 20, 2010. Laura, who was born in Erieau 95 years ago was predeceased by her husbands Adam Brown and William Vidler. She will be fondly remembered by her daughter Judy Lamb of Erieau, her daughter in law Marg Brown of Mississauga, her brother Jack & Brenda Reynolds of Erieau, by her grandchildren Debbie Spitzer, Greg Brown, Shelley Montgomery and Matt Lamb, by her great grandchildren Josh Spitzer, Bob Brown, Dan Brown, Austin Lamb and Owen Lamb and by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her son Douglas Brown, her son in law Doug Lamb, her great-grandaughter Madison and by her brothers Jack, Bryce and Doug Reynolds. Blenheim Community Funeral Home entrusted with Funeral Arrangements. In keeping with Laura’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Clayton Henry Huckle passed away of natural causes at his residence on Tuesday August 17, 2010. Clayton was born in Chatham 71 years ago to his late parents John Henry and Delina Marie (Barnier) Huckle. He is survived by his wife Ovliya and by his children Bryan, Rachel, Clayton, Reubin and John Henry, by his sister Betty Horton, his brothers David & Dorothy Huckle and Roy & Shirlene Huckle as well as many nieces and nephews. Clayton was predeceased by his sister Dorothy Huckle. Blenheim Community Funeral Home entrusted with Funeral Arrangements. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Douglas Percy Barnes of Blenheim passed away on Friday August 13, 2010. Born in Blenheim 76 years ago to the late Albert & Elizabeth (Desmond) Barnes, Doug is the loved husband of Gail (Rosser) Barnes, father of Rob & Jane Barnes and Mike Barnes and grandfather of Dylan Barnes all of Blenheim. He is survived by his sister Rose & Leroy Brackett of Chatham and by his brother in law and sister in laws Bill & Sandra Rosser, Donna Barnes and Beverly Barnes all of Blenheim and a number of nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his sisters Ruby Edwards and Hilda Gosnell and by his brothers Albert, Jim and John Barnes. Following his service with the Canadian Navy, Doug held positions with Rockwell International, the Chatham Jail, the Blenheim Arena and the Blenheim Community Golf Course for 25 years. Cremation has taken place. The Barnes family invite family and friends to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home for visitation on Sunday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185 where Doug was a member for 53 years will conduct a Legion Service on Sunday at 7 p.m. A Memorial Service for Doug will be held at the Funeral Home on Monday August 16, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Legion Padre Bill Terris officiating. Doug’s wish was to buy his friends a drink one more time, so following the Memorial Service friends are invited back to the Blenheim Legion to “have a drink with Percy”. Friends wishing to remember Doug with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham Kent Health Alliance Oncology Unit or the Palliative Care Unit.

Cayson Darrel Christopher Osborne-Heyink passed away at his home on Monday July 26, 2010. Cayson, was born on October 28, 2009. He grew up on a farm where his job was to keep an eye on Lily the dog. He had a great personality and a contagious smile. He was the most precious gift that his Mom and Dad Lindsey Osborne and Darrel Heyink could ever have been given. Cayson is very much loved by his Grandpa Mark and Grandma Barb Osborne and by Grandpa John and Grandma Elaine Heyink and will be missed tremendously by his Uncles Chris Osborne and Wendel Heyink, by his Aunts Katrina and Shelby Heyink, by his Great Grandma Jean Osborne and his Papa Wayne Dowd. Grandpa Kaye Osborne (2010) and Nana Donna Dowd (2010) are now taking care of Cayson in Heaven. Lindsey and Darrel invite family and friends to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday July 28, 2010 for visitation from 12:00 until 2:00 p.m. A Funeral Service for Cayson will be held at 2:00 p.m. A Private Family Interment will follow. Dorothy Elizabeth (Couch) Lindsey passed away at Riverview Gardens on Saturday July 24, 2010 at the age of 88 years. Dorothy was born in Fort William, Ontario, to her parents Wellington Moses and Elsie Jane (Hymers) Couch. Dorothy moved from Thunder Bay to Kingsville in 1980, and then to Blenheim in 1987. She was a past member of the Blenheim United Church and UCW, and Blenheim Seniors Centre. Her favorite pastimes included family get-together’s, playing Bridge, dancing, knitting, reading, United Church activities, country music, taping her favorite “soaps” on TV, Bingo, and the occasional slot machine. In her earlier years she enjoyed her job as a Payroll Clerk at McKellar General Hospital in Fort William, fishing, camping, and vacations in Las Vegas. Dorothy is survived by her four children Dale & Lynne Lindsey of Thunder Bay, Judy (Reitberger) & Don Johnston of Mitchell’s Bay, Brian & Fiorine Lindsey of Sault Ste. Marie, and Sandra Lindsey of Windsor. She is also survived by 10 Grandchildren, 11 Great Grandchildren, and her brother Gordon & Jean Couch of Thunder Bay. She is pre-deceased by her sister Tamison Sitch and her brothers Frank and George Couch. In keeping with Dorothy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and family are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley St., Blenheim, on Saturday, July 31, 2010 for a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. Friends wishing to remember Dorothy with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.

With quiet courage and a strong spirit, Mary Ann (nee Batiuk) Stefina passed peacefully on Friday July 23,2010. Born in Montreal 70 years ago, daughter of the late Anthony Batiuk and Lillian ( Zwarich ) Mary Ann was the beloved wife of the late Frank ( 2007 ) for over 46 years.

Loving and devoted mother to Susan (Bob), Frances (Ross), John( Tina ) and Eddie ( 1995 ). Loving Grandmother to Chris, Scott, Sarah, Dan, Jessica, Michael and Logan. Mary Ann was an only child and therefore adopted an open door invite to all, cooking and baking constantly.

She enjoyed gardening, knitting, watching her grandchildren in their various activities and travelling with her husband. She enjoyed many a card game with Frank, Nick ( 2010 ) and Josie.

Thank-you to her many angels of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Medicine A: Vivianne, Kristine, Stephanie, Lori, Roseanne, Rhonda, Natasha, Kelly, Sarah and Nicole to name a few.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society or Leukemia Foundation would be appreciated. Visitation for Family and close friends on Tuesday July 27,2010 10 am at Blenheim Community Funeral Home. Service to follow at 11:00 a.m.

Edith Emily Cameron beloved wife of Ronald Cameron of Blenheim passed away on Wednesday, July 21 2010 in London. She is the loving mother of Randy and Kim Cameron of White Court Alberta and Sandra and Mark Rammeloo of Blenheim. Edith is the dear Grandmother of Jonathan, Shawn, Matt, Richelle, and Alex and great-grandmother of Austin, Jordon, and Ashton. She is also survived by, her sisters Anna Clark and Laura MacGregor of Prince Edward Island. John Perry “Bo” Wardle of London and formerly of Blenheim passed away at home on Wednesday July 21, 2010. Born in Chatham, son of the late Ora and Earl Wardle, John is the loving father of Perry John Wardle & Denielle Baker of Komoka and Tanya Marie & Matt Drouillard of Waterloo. He is the devoted grandfather of Sophia & Benjamin and good friend of Yollande Reid. He is survived by his brothers and sisters Bob & Debra Wardle of Blenheim, Hildred Hillman of London, Gary & Carolyn Wardle of Brownsburg Indiana, Arthur & Pat Wardle of Ridgetown, Nancy Crow of Chatham, Harold Wardle of Blenheim, Brenda Ritchie of Chatham, Wanda & Ken Travis of Chatham and Becky & Romeo Brideau of Chatham and by his brother in law Bud DeLeeuw of Chatham. John was predeceased by his sisters Carris Wickwire, Betty DeLeeuw and Marjorie Formosa. John was well known for his cooking abilities and his willingness to help his family and friends. Visitation will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Friday from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and at Glad Tidings Church on Saturday from 10 o’clock until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:30 a.m. Friends wishing to remember John with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Multi Organ Transplant Program through London Health Sciences Foundation.

GULUK, Dymitr ‘Mike’

Peacefully at age 86 on July 21,2010.

Born in Dworce,Poland in 1924, Mike served 2 countries in WW2, a sailor with the Polish Navy and a radio specialist with the British Royal Air Force.

Mike married Helena Borek in 1947 and they proudly immigrated to Canada in 1952 where they settled in Sudbury. A long time employee of the Canadian Pacific Railroad, along with his wife Helen, he became an active member of the local Polish legion (SPK).

Mike and Helen retired to St Catherines in 1982 where they continued their Legion activities and involvement in the Polish community.

Predeceased by his wife of 49 years Mike moved to Chatham to be near his daughter Anne in 1997 where he spent the last 13 years of his life as the ‘resident gardener’ of the Chatham Retirement Resort. Even as the years took their toll on him, Mike remained a supporter the Legion (Br 28) and Polish Canadian Club in Chatham.

A good husband to Helen.

A good father to Michael Guluk and Anne McArthur.

A good father-in-law to Sandy Guluk and Ric McArthur.

A good grandfather to Lauren, Stephen, Lani, Brian and Cody.

A good companion to Stella.

A good friend to Mary.

A GOOD MAN! A GOOD LIFE!
