It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Marie (Barnes) Meyers who passed away with family by her side at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Wednesday April 26, 2023 at the age of 86. Donna was the daughter of the late Percy and Mabel (nee Holmes) Ashby. Loving wife of the late James Barnes (1989) and Joseph Meyers (2008). Dear mother of Jim (Lynne) Barnes, Pat (Rick) Caron, Judy (Dave) Tomek, and Brad (Leah) Barnes. Grandmother of Ryan (Nadine) Burk, James (Tanya) Barnes, Chantelle Barnes, Amanda (Craig) Horak, Steve (Randi) Caron, Ashley (Aaron) Armstrong, Laura Leigh (Ryan) Wilson, and Brandon Barnes. Also survived by 23 great grandchildren, 5 step great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Sister of Brenda (late Eldon) Dent, Barb (Wayne) Richmond, David (Maria) Ashby, and predeceased by Fran (George) Felder, Louise (Bill) Johnston, and Mary Lou (Fred) McEachran. Donna will be remembered for her love of her family, her many years working as a cashier and bookkeeper at IGA, her many day trips with her sister Barb to the casino, and their attendance at many concerts and shows, and her afternoon card games of ‘hand and foot’ with her sisters and brother. A special thank you to Dr. Samantha Chandrasena and the staff at the Chatham-Kent Hospice for taking such great care of Donna while she was in your care. Visitation will take place at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley St. in Blenheim on Monday May 1 from 2:00pm until 4:00pm and 6:00pm until 8:00pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home with Rev. Tim Joyce officiating on Tuesday at 11:00am with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery.
