Bertha Julia (Benoit) Pickering passed away on April 14, 2012 at the Blenheim Community Village. Wife of the late Elmer Pickering (October 7, 1990). Bertha was born in Tilbury on February 7, 1929 to the late Adelore & Leah (Gagnier) Benoit. She is predeceased by her daughter Bonnie (Pickering) Normandin (March 4, 2012). She is survived by her sons, Roy (Joan) Pickering of Erieau and Duncan (Barb) Pickering of Blenheim. She enjoyed visits with her grandchildren Jamie (MaryLynn), Jeff (Melissa), Cory (Jocelyn), Cameron (Nikki), Matthew Pickering, Dawn (Mario) Acosta, Julie Normandin, Leah (Josh Kerr) Normandin and especially with her 11 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Lorine (Remi) Goodreau of Tilbury and Madeline Donahue of Blenheim. Predeceased by her sisters Dorothy McKinlay, Corine Bechard and her brothers Clarence and Leo Benoit. She will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to gather at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Tuesday April 17th from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. to show their support to Bertha’s family. A Funeral Service for Bertha will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday April 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Pierre Wood officiating. Interment in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Tilbury. Acting as pallbearers will be Bertha’s grandsons Jamie Pickering, Jeff Pickering, Cory Pickering, Matthew Pickering, Josh Kerr and her nephew James Goodreau. Friends wishing to remember Bertha with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
