A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

Sue Newman of Cedar Springs passed away peacefully in the still of the night on Monday March 30, 2020.  She was 75 years old.  She leaves behind the two people who looked up to her most in life; her daughter Leanne Crawford (Steven) and her son Mike Newman.  She will be missed by her grandchildren Evan Vaughan (Marie-Philip), Daniel Vaughan (Teneshia), Matthew Crawford (Jayde), Josh Crawford (Alison), Stevie Crawford (Mackenzie), by ten great-grandchildren and by many nieces and nephews.  In 2001 she was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Lorne Newman.  She was also predeceased by her parents Dorothy & Lee Thomas and by her only brother George Thomas.

Sue drew strength in life through her faith in God.  She was a long-time member of Cedar Springs United Church until its closing and then became a member of the Fourth Line United Church.  It was that faith that allowed her to face the future unafraid these past few weeks after being diagnosed with cancer.  She was very grateful for the kindness that was shown to both her and to her family by the doctors and nurses at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance.

Sue will be remembered as a kind and caring neighbour, a great friend and a person who left this world a better place.  She mastered the art of making butter tarts and always had some on hand in the freezer…just in case.

Cremation will take place and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.  Blenheim Community Funeral Home entrusted with funeral arrangements.    Friends wishing to remember Sue with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Westover Treatment Centre.

Dear Leanne and Mike I have been blessed to have known your mother and your father and to see the two of you as you grew up. Your mother was a true country girl with treasured values and a faith to be admired. She was so proud of her children and her grandchildren and I was always proud on her behalf when she shared your accomplishments. You have a wonderful legacy to follow and I want you to know that I share your sorrow. Sue was a good friend and she will be missed in this life. Our condolences to all of the family. Sue was an amazing woman. She will be missed, dearly. Thoughts and prayers. From Don Howe and Betty-Anne Osborne.

We are so sorry to hear of Sue's passing. While having the opportunity of participating in some services at Fourth Line United Church, my wife and I had the privilege of getting to know your mother. She loved her family, and as you have said, loved her Lord so much. She shared with me the past few months her health concerns, but she knew in her heart the Lord was always with her. May you and your family sense the peace, comfort and strength of our Lord Jesus Christ. Rev. Kim Cooper
