It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Robert Clair Dulong.  He passed peacefully, in his 82nd year, on Sunday, March 28th, 2021.  Born in Chatham, Ontario on July 3rd, 1939.  Son of the late Clair and Emma (Thurston) Dulong.
For almost 60 years he was the loving husband to Joan (Spellman) Dulong.  He was a proud and supportive father to Delynne (Tim) Clark, Michelle (John) Cummings, and Bob (Andrea) Dulong.
He was an amazing grandfather to Josselynne (Jason) Segeren, Jennifer Clark (David Dowker), Scott Cummings, Joel Cummings, Tyler Dulong (Taylor Manaigre), Trevor Dulong (Courtney Gordon), Claire Dulong.
He loved playing and spending time with his great-grandchildren.  They held a special place in his life; he was “Pa” to Emma Segeren, Nathan Guy, Nicholas Guy.  Pre-deceased by great granddaughter Sydney Guy.
Bob will be missed by his only sister Charlene (Paul) Germuska and her family.  Also missed by sisters-in-law Carolyn (Don) Fedy, Helen Hamblin, Connie Birmingham and their families.
Bob became a teacher and then a principal with the Catholic School Board for 36 years.  He spent most of his career at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Blenheim, eventually retiring from St. Michael’s Catholic School in Ridgetown.  After retiring at 55, Bob and Joan travelled the world, enjoying many new adventures.  He also took up a hobby collecting antique bottles and jars.  Along with this came many new acquaintances.
As his grandchildren grew, he instilled in them the importance of education.  He was always there supporting them and never missing a milestone.  His time with his great-grandchildren was cherished.
Bob spent many years giving back to our community.  He made so many lives brighter!
Always on our minds, forever in our hearts!
A private family funeral will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.  Due to internet issues at the church, the funeral will be taped and available to be viewed Tuesday, April 6 on the Blenheim Community Funeral Home website.

Joan, Delynne, Michelle and Bobby (sorry - tha's the only name I've ever known for you) - Your Husband/Dad was such an amazing person. My sincerest condelances in his passing. It's been years since I've seen the 3 of you but saw your Mom and Dad I think it was last year at Christmas in Muskoka. Your Dad had to ask who I was, (and with that smile) but that was ok, its been such a long time too since we spoke as well. Looks like you all have beautiful famillies....I was trying to put together whose kids were whose. Hugs to you all.

Our condolences to Joan and the family. He always had a smile and said hello whenever we saw him. Our prayers and thoughts are with your family. Rest In Peace.

My condolences to you all. Mr Dulong was always kind and a familiar face in the arena and church. Sincerely Janice

Our sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

He was my church friend that I was excited to see him every week. He was nice to me and gave me a car for Christmas.

My sympathy to the entire Dulong family. Mr Dulong was my principal at St.Michael’s school and I fondly remember him as a caring and compassionate educator. He made a lasting impact on my life as he was at our school when my mother took ill and died when I was in grade 7. I am sure during his distinguished career he was a mentor and important influencer in many children’s lives. May you all be surrounded by light and love.

My condolences to Bob's friends and family. I knew Bob through the antique bottle collecting community. He was a friend to all in the hobby. Bob shall be missed. The good memories of him will warm out hearts.

I met Bob too late in life. He was passionate about his jars and his collection, but through conversation I could tell he was more passionate about his family. Although I am not the picker Bob was, we both shared many of the same passions in life - jars and antiques, and teaching. He parted with one special piece from his collection on my first visit with him, and I’ll always remember him by it. He knew it was special to me because it’s from my hometown of Kingsville. Although I didn’t know Bob well, he treated me like we had known each other for years and were great friends. He constantly brought up things his kids, grandkids, and great grandkids were doing that made him proud. He was a true family man and loved his family deeply. My condolences to the entire family - how lucky were you to have been part of a family with Bob as the patriarch!

Our deepest condolences to Joan, Bob, Andrea, Tyler, Trevor, Claire and the whole Dulong Family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. May beautiful memories soften your grief and keep his spirit alive in your heart. The Amaral Family

I was very shocked and saddened to hear of Mr. Dulong's passing. I had the opportunity to get to know him through helping him price out some comic books he owned over several years. When invited over we always had a great chat and he always talked about family. I could tell by his stories how proud he was of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. I was so looking forward to visiting once again after the pandemic ran its course and seeing him at the many shows he traveled to. My condolences to Mrs. Dulong and his family. Sincerely, David Stepniak

Joan, Delynne, Michelle, Bob and families. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in all of your families. I have many conversations and stories about Bob. I can only say this from the bottom of my heart. Bob Dulong was an honest wise gentle man's gentlemen. You are always in all of our hearts. Brian Cleave

Joan, Charlene, family. My Mom Irene mentioned this very sad news and I wanted you to know that Joan and I are thinking about all of you during these times. The terrible inability to gather to celebrate Bob’s life also makes this all worse, but we loved seeing so many of the pictures of him and the extended family with wonderful joy and love. I recall many of the Dulong family events from years ago and you both were also so kind to me, my sister, and my family - which is 3 adult children Joan and I have and two wonderful grandchildren from Taylor and his wife Sarah. Our prayers are with you and we wanted you to know we are thinking about you all. DAVE & JOAN COLE

Dear Joan and family- On behalf of Eva and I, we offer our sincere condolences, thoughts and prayers to you and your family. To say this was a surprise is an understatement as I just spoke with Bob this past Saturday before the family left for Church. Bob had a very strong faith in the Lord and just loved his family which he was never shy sharing about with me on the phone or during our visits. If it was one thing I really respected and appreciated about Bob, is that it was always family first, our Christian faith second and "Fruit jars" last......he had his priorities straight. Always appreciated Joan's friendliness also as she usually picked up the phone and chatted for a bit before handing the receiver over to Bob..... and really appreciated her gracefulness & kindness during my in house visits. After all, how many ladies would let their husbands drag a fellow Fruit Jar collector all over the house downstairs and upstairs into each room to see Bob's jars? A REAL TROOPER!!!! Once again, our sincere sympathies to all of you during this time as you not only have lost a loving husband, Father and Grandfather, but a great guy who impacted the many lives he crossed paths with.....like mine for 28 years. God Bless & take care - Stephen & Eva Wuerch....."To be absent from the body is to be present with The Lord" 2 Corinthians 5:8.

To the entire Dulong family - Thinking of you all and sending heartfelt condolences at this difficult time. I will always remember Bob as the principal that joined us one recess and took his turn skiing down the hill at St Mary's. I seem to remember that he hit the fence, but got up laughing. He was so deeply respected that he was the one we wanted to have speak at our graduation, even though he hadn't been at the school for several years by then. Later in life, without fail, his greetings would include a hearty hello, a big smile, a quick hug, and a genuine check in to see how things were going. I hope that your memories, and those shared with you by all who knew Bob, give you comfort in the coming days. Much love!
