Brenda Breault

Brenda Joyce Breault, passed away peacefully at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Friday, June 2, 2017. Brenda was born 64 years ago to her late parents Clifford and Dorothy (Pepper) Wilson.  Beloved wife of the late Roger Breault (2000) and loving companion of Hector Lapointe.  She was the very proud mother of Colleen Breault.

She will be remembered by her brothers Arthur and Guy Wilson and is predeceased by her sisters Lana Chef and Anne Arsenault. She will be sadly missed by her niece Darlene Opasky.

In keeping with Brenda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Interment of her ashes will take place in Pardoville Cemetery at a later date.

Donations in memory of Brenda can be made to the Chatham-Kent Hospice Foundation.

Muriel Isabelle (Maris) Dale passed away peacefully at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance with her family at her side at the age of 96 on May 29th, 2017. She was born in Raleigh Township and lived her whole life in the South Buxton area. She was the daughter of Watson and Isabella (Pratt) Maris. Beloved wife of Oliver John Dale (1976).

Loving mother of JoAn Dale, Richard (Mary Martha) Dale, Alice Dale, Isabelle (Wayne) Gagen, Elinor (Carl) Mifflin, Marilyn (Paul) Bright, William (Sharron) Dale, Donald Dale and Ronald Dale.

Proud grandmother of Dr. Suzanne Dale (Lori Dey), Keith (Stacey) Dale, Sarah (Mike) Cowley, Kevin (Vanessa) Gagen, Jeffrey (Nicki) Gagen, Amy (Marc) Sills, Steven (Sarah) Mifflin, Heather (Fred) Vaughan, Jason (Kristie) Bright, Jamie (Andrea) Bright, Shelly Duquette, Amy Duquette and Eric Dale.

Great Grandmother to Seth, Hunter, and Emma Cowley, Chloé and Mia Sills, Vincent and Nicholas Vaughan, Brayden and Noah Bright, Jessa and Brennon Bright, Mathew and Madison Cowgill. She was looking forward to Great-Grandchild number 14 in July.

Survived by her brother Donald Maris and sister-in-law, Dorothy Maris (late William). Predeceased by her sister Marjorie Keast (1965), her brothers Thomas, Watson and Oliver in childhood and her grandchildren Jon and Cheryl Bright.

She will be missed by her nieces and nephews and their families.

Muriel was the oldest member of St. Andrew’s United Church, South Buxton, a life member of the United Church Women and a faithful worker at all church events when able. She was a Charter member of the S.S. #7 Raleigh Home and School Association and the South Raleigh Women’s Institute.

Family and friends are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Monday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Muriel will be held in the Funeral Home on Tuesday June 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Eric Skillings officiating.  Interment in Pardoville Union Cemetery.

Donations in memory of Muriel can be made to the Foundation of Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, St. Andrews United Church, South Buxton, Heart and Stroke Association, or Charity of your choice.

Norman Nicholson

Norman Nicholson, 88 years of age, passed away peacefully at the Blenheim Community Village on Saturday May 27, 2017. Norman was born in Annan, Scotland on July 16, 1928, the only son of Georgina (1982) and Thomas (1943) Nicholson.  Norman was a former employee of CIBC Canada.  In 1973 he married the love of his life, Lulu who survives him.  Norman and Lulu enjoyed 44 years together.

Resting at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 53 Stanley Street, Blenheim where visitation will take place on Wednesday May 31, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 when a Funeral Service will take place with Rev. Mike Maroney of First Presbyterian Church officiating. Interment will take place in Maple Leaf Cemetery, Chatham.

Many thanks are extended to the staff of the Blenheim Community Village for Norman’s excellent care over these past few years. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to remember Norman are asked to consider the First Presbyterian Church in Chatham.

Gary Dickson

Gary Michael Dickson of Blenheim passed away on Sunday May 21, 2017 at the age of 74 years. Gary was one of two children born to the late Joseph & Elsie (Phillips) Dickson and was predeceased by his sister Patricia. After living his childhood in the Aylmer area Gary became a member of the O.P.P. and worked as an Investigator for Ontario Hydro. In his retirement he worked in Security at Ontario Hydro and in the Transportation Department of Southwestern Regional Centre. He will be forever remembered by his spouse Rena, his sons Mike and Shawn (Corrie-Lynne) and his grandchildren Tom and Tess.

It was Gary’s wish that his life be remembered quietly, that cremation take place and his ashes be scattered in New Zealand which was a place he visited often and held close to his heart.

Friends wishing to remember Gary with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Blenheim Baptist Church, the Blenheim Community Village or the Parkinsons Society.

Charlien Jeffery

On May 13, 2017 I handed my best friend and mother Charlien Jeffery into the loving arms of my father, Norm Jeffery who predeceased her in 2011. She passed away peacefully at home, leaving behind her daughter Nadine Jeffery and partner Jeff Motycka.  She is survived by her sister Shirley Rayment, her brother Ernie (Kay) Glassford, her Goddaughter Melinda Glazier, many nieces and nephews, in-laws Gordon Jeffery and Violet Glazier.

Special thanks to all of Mom’s in home caregivers and to her niece Shaelynn Glassford for the kindness and support that they gave to her.

Cremation has taken place. A private family graveside service will take place at a later date at Pardoville Cemetery.  Friends wishing to remember Charlien with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Shriners Hospital for Children.

Rita Marie Case of London and recently Chatham passed into eternal rest at Riverview Gardens surrounded by her family on May 7, 2017. Daughter of the late Michael (1961) and Marie (1958) Weigle of London. She was married to John Douglas Case who predeceased her in 2006, also predeceased by her daughter Dianne in 2011.

Rita is survived by her son Brian (Bertha) Case of Erieau, a son Paul Case of Parson B.C., grandchildren Brent (Dana) Case of Chatham, Brooke (Jason) Weiss of Blenheim, Stephanie Case of Mission B.C. and 7 great-grandchildren plus a special friend of the family Susan Case-Waterman.

Rita worked for many years in London at the Toronto Dominion Bank and Bank of Montreal before retiring. She enjoyed golf, bridge and she and Doug especially enjoyed traveling.

Cremation has already taken place. Visitation will be Wednesday May 10th from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley St, Blenheim. The service will be conducted at 2:00 with Fr. Paul Milward of Christ Church at the Funeral Home immediately following visitation. Donations to the Bruce B. Foster Memorial Foundation, Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation or Shriners Hospital would be appreciated.

A private family interment to follow at a later date in London.

Wanda Elizabeth Hawley, formerly of Blenheim and Windsor passed away at the Copper Terrace Nursing Home in Chatham on Saturday April 29, 2017. Wanda was born 82 years ago to her late parents Burton and Maude (Shreve) Hawley.  She was the very proud mother of Robin Pepper who predeceased her in 2009 and loved her only sister Dorisann McNear who predeceased her in 2001.

Wanda will be remembered by her grandchildren Bill Bowden Jr and Mandi & Boyd Doucet, by her great grandchildren Caidan Pepper, Ashton Boal and Konner Boal as well as her very good friends Sandie Filsinger, Betty Ann Allossery, Evelyn Pageau and Rosemary Lottbrein.

Special thanks are extended to Dr. Mark Tomen and the staff of Copper Terrace Nursing Home 3 North and 3 East for the care and compassion that was shown to Wanda, and to Betty Allossery for all of your help and support over the last year.

In keeping with Wanda’s wishes, cremation has taken place. An interment service with immediate family and friends will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim on Thursday May 4, 2017 at 1:00 p.m.  Friends wishing to remember Wanda are asked to do something special for a neighbour or a friend as Wanda was always fortunate and grateful for those blessings in her own life.

Inez Kathleen Boyes passed away at her home on Wednesday April 26, 2017. She was born in Tilbury East Township 92 years ago to her parents the late Thomas & Elizabeth (Shivas) Hope; raised in an era when hard work and a sense of community were the foundations of life. Inez spent many happy years being married to her husband Alex Boyes, farming in the Blenheim area until they retired and moved into town in 1963. Alex predeceased her in 1998.

Family was very important to Inez. She will be missed by her children Kathi & Ron Leciago of Blenheim, Alex & Gladys Boyes of Long Point and Jim & Jeanne Boyes of Stoney Point, by her grandchildren Greg & Vicki, Kara & Diego, Michael, Megan & Matthew, Terry & Janet and Tanny as well as her great-grandchildren Logan, Emma, Justin, Kale, Melinda and Kainan.

Inez was one of nine children, being the sister and sister-in-law of Carol & Glen Walters, Tom Hope, Blake Hope, Harry Hope, Joyce Hope and Jane Hope. She was predeceased by Winnifred Allison, Marjorie Allison, Kenneth Hope, Douglas Hope, Evelyn Hope, June Hope and Shirley Hope. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

To know Inez was to love her. She had a kind and generous heart. She didn’t hesitate to share whatever it was that she was fortunate enough to have herself, whether it was produce from her garden that she gave to those in need or the time and encouragement that she gave to the children who she babysat. She was known for her shortbread at Christmas time and her butter tarts whenever she made them. When she was in her sixties and Alex was unable to drive, she got her own drivers license so that she could be the chauffeur. She will be missed.

Family and friends are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home for visitation on Sunday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Inez will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday May 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery where Inez will be laid to rest with Alex. Acting as pallbearers for their grandmother will be Greg, Michael, Matthew, Kale, Kainan and Diego.

Peggy was predeceased by her parents John and Hilda Park and was sister to Donna Slack of London. She was sister-in-law to Gerald and Shirley Hoover of Cayuga, Reg and Adele Hoover of Orangeville, Ida and Roman Targonski of Mt. Albert and Elaine and Bill Cranston of Selkirk. Also survived by nieces and nephews.
