At home and surrounded by his family, David Frederick Reid passed away on Thursday December 10, 2009. David was born in Chatham 74 years ago to his late parents Lyle and Irene (Smith) Reid. He married his wife Catherine on July 1st 1960 and together they raised three children; Angela & Paul Nelson of Kitchener, Valerie & Tim Flanagan of Blenheim and David Reid of Kitchener. David and Catherine were blessed with eleven grandchildren; John, Nicole and Kaitlynn Flanagan, Alexandra and Jessica Reid, Robert, Erik and Nicholas Nelson, Chad & Colleen Nelson, Carrie & Greg Muise and Tracey & Adrian Harms as well as two great-grandchildren Ayden Harms and Eve Marie Nelson. David served in the Navy for five years and was a thirty year employee of Rockwell International in Chatham. His love of music was clear as he played the drums and the horns. David thought that every child should have the opportunity to play an instrument and he was able to pass that love on to his own children as well as many other children he taught. A traveler and a fisherman at heart, David was most content and happy at a back yard barbeque and to be surrounded by his family. He was one of 7 children and is survived by his sisters Sharon Kenny of London, Clara Parish of Alberta and Betty Reid of Australia and by his brother Charles Reid of Chatham. He is predeceased by his brothers Barry and Jack Reid. Friends wishing to remember David are asked to consider a memorial donation to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.

Percy Godfrey Lack of Blenheim passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday December 3, 2009 at the age of 82 years. Percy is the son of the late Charlotte and Percy Lack. He is survived by his only brother Raymond and by his lifetime companion Ila Sawyer. Percy and Raymond have farmed outside Blenheim and they have been the purveyors of dirt and gravel in this area for many years. One of Percy’s greatest pleasures in life was to operate a pay loader. Raymond would like to invite friends to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home for visitation on Friday December 4, 2009 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Cremation to follow with a private interment in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date. Friends wishing to remember Percy with a memorial donation are asked to consider a charity of their choice.

Robin Elizabeth (Hawley) Pepper

With deep sadness, the family of Robin Elizabeth (Hawley) Pepper of Wallaceburg announces that Robin passed away on Saturday November 28, 2009 at the age of 57 years. She will be sadly missed by her mother Wanda Hawley of Windsor, her children Mandi Pepper of Wallaceburg and Bill Bowden Jr of Alberta, by her grandchildren Caidan, Ashton and Konner and by her best friends Betty Ann Allossery and Sandra Filsinger. Robin also made many friends through her work at Rona. Cremation has taken place and a private graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery in Blenheim where Robin’s urn will be placed with her grandmother Maude Hawley. Jean Isobel Cowley of Chatham passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Friday November 27, 2009. Jean was born in Harwich Township 78 years ago to her late parents Roy and Grace (Bicum) Smith. She was blessed in life with three children: Max Cowley and his wife Elaine of Blenheim, Dianne Chamberlain-Moffat and her husband Peter of Chatham and Mark Cowley who predeceased her in 1991. Jean is survived by five grandchildren, by her sister Betty Thomas of Blenheim, her brother Raeburn Smith and his wife Virginia of Little Current Ontario and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her son-in-law Brad Chamberlain in 1977 and by her brother-in-law Ken Thomas in 2000. Friends will remember Jean working at Crest Hardware, the Cherry Co-op, the Roy Deary Jewelry Store and I.D.A. in Blenheim. Visitation will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Monday November 30, 2009 from 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service and reception for Jean will be held at the Funeral Home on Tuesday December 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lynn Brown of the Thamesville United Church officiating. Audrey Fulkerson of Erieau passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance surrounded by the love of her family on Wednesday November 25, 2009. Audrey was born in Thunder Bay 83 years ago to her parents Frank and Georgina (McKend) Ells. On September 1, 1945 she married Albert “Bud” Fulkerson and together they raised four children; Susie Attewell and Bertha & Brian Case of Erieau, Jim & Janice Fulkerson of London and Mark & Gail Fulkerson of Dundurn Saskatchewan. Audrey and Bud were also blessed with eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Bud predeceased Audrey on November 29, 2003. She is also predeceased by her brother William Bryce Ells and her sister Sadie Elizabeth Ells. Audrey served with the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service and was a member of WRENS. She also worked at Erieau Packers for 26 years. The Fulkerson family will receive friends for visitation at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Audrey will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday November 28, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. conducted by Branch #185 Legion Padre Rev. Bill Terris. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers for their Grandmother will be Adam Fulkerson, Brent Case, Albert Attewell, Craig Attewell, Jeff Froude and Jeff Clark. Morley Roy Snobelen, a resident of The Village in Ridgetown and formerly of RR#3 Blenheim and Thamesville passed away on Thursday November 19, 2009. Morley was born June 12, 1921 at the family farm on Erieau Rd; son of the late Lottie (Bayer) and Morley Bruce Snobelen. Husband of the late Frances Jean (Thomas)( Goddard) Snobelen (2008). Morley is survived by Terry and Sherrell of Blenheim, Lou Ann Snobelen of Columbus Indiana, Garnet and Gayle of Blenheim and Albert of Vero Beach Florida. Grandpa of Terry Lynn and Chuck Acs, Bob and Rochelle Snobelen, Sam, Kelly, Erie, Susan Snobelen. Great grandfather of Amanda, Jessica, Shayna, Jami, and Allison. Brother of the late Mary Hebblethwaite, Jean Goulet, Edna Mills, Florence Willan, and Leslie Snobelen. Dr. Jerrold “Jerry” Thomson of Erie Beach passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday November 17, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Jerry was born in Weymouth England. He was a well educated man, believing that all the knowledge one needs in life is written down and simply needs to be found. Jerry studied in England to become a physician. He practised in Australia, St. Louis, Kincardine, Markham and Chatham. Jerry met and married Marilyn (Jackson) in Toronto and they have been each others best friend for the last 36 years. Taking time off from his practice, Jerry and Marilyn bought a sailboat and traveled for a year around the Bahama Islands before settling in Erie Beach. Missing their father are Sue Zuanich and her husband John of Park City Utah, Mandy Vowles of Toronto and Nick Thomson of Toronto. Jerry is the proud grandfather of Jordon Vowles of Toronto. Cremation has taken place. A Celebratrion of Jerry’s life will be held in the Blenheim United Church on Saturday November 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In keeping with Jerry’s lifetime ambition of helping people, friends wishing to honour him with a memorial donation are asked to consider the United Way or the Alzheimers Society.

Emma Jean DeMaeyer (Stefina) of Chatham passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday November 5, 2009. Emma was born 70 years ago to her late parents Bernadette (Bechard) and Dennis Emery. She is the beloved wife of the late Ed DeMaeyer (2004) and Stan Stefina (2008). Emma will be sadly missed by her children Denise Stefina of Chatham, Karen & Leslie McQuarrie of Blenheim and Rob & Gina Stefina of Windsor, by her grandchildren Tyler, Bianca and Sophia, her sisters Margaret Lesy of Blenheim and Pauline Chordash of Sombra and by all of her brother in laws and sister in laws of her combined families. She was known as “Aunt Emma” to all of the nieces and nephews that she loved so much. Emma was predeceased by her brothers Roland Emery (1962) and Victor Emery. A Celebration of Emma’s life and reception will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home, 60 Stanley Street in Blenheim on Monday November 9, 2009 from 11:00 a.m – 1:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Emma spent the last few weeks on the 3rd Floor Rehab Unit at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance and made friends with all of the nurses there. In light of the exceptional care that she felt she received, her wish would be that friends wishing to make a memorial donation in her name would consider them.

Gordon Douglas Campbell passed away suddenly on Monday November 2, 2009 at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Gordon was born 76 years ago to his late parents Mary (Downie) and Lorne Campbell. Gordon and Irene (Morningstar) celebrated their 52nd wedding anniversary this past August. Their life together was one of many blessings. Together, on the same farm where Gordon was born they raised their four children Jim (Joy) of Blenheim, Bob (Anne) of Stoney Point, Janet (Jim Nauta) of Blenheim and Marianne (Shawn Fenton) of Ridgetown. They are the proud grandparents of Tyler, Jessica, Shauna, Ryan and Aaron Campbell, Erica, Rachel and Julie Nauta and Lydia and Anderson Fenton. Gordon is survived by his sisters Marjorie (Ken MacDougall) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and Donna (Ward Uffelman) of Kitchener, his sisters in law Ruth Campbell of Blenheim, Norma Campbell of Ridgetown and Audrey (Lyle Dawson) of Chatham and by his mother in law Vivian Morningstar of Chatham. Predeceased by his brothers Mac (2004) and Murray (2009). Gordon lived all of his life on the Campbell Century Farm where he was born and was proud that the seventh generation of his family will be residing there. He was keenly interested in all aspects of farming and served on many boards that served to help farmers. He was an active member in the Ridge Community. Ora Winifred (Gable) McIntosh, passed away peacefully on Saturday October 17, 2009 at the Chatham Campus of the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Ora was born in Blenheim 95 years ago to Lillian (Reynolds) and Charles Gable. She is predeceased by her husband Lyle McIntosh in 1990. Ora is survived by her sister Ruth Roadhouse of Blenheim and by her brother Jack Gable of Florida. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Verna Gable of Blenheim. Also surviving are nieces Anne Gammage, Janice Fletcher, Linda Karnas, Debbie Morrill and nephews John Roadhouse, Garry Gable, Ronald Gable, John Gable, Clark Gable, and Allan Camp. Ora will also be sadly missed by a special friend to the family, Eric Boekhoven. In addition to her parents, Ora is predeceased by her sister Meda Babis and her brothers Edward and Lloyd.
