Leo VanSickle, husband of the late Melba (Fox) VanSickle passed away at the Chatham-Kent Hospice on Monday May 17, 2021.  Born in Chatham 86 years ago to the late John & Myrtle (Sayers) VanSickle, Leo was the last surviving member of his family having been predeceased by Doris Houston, Grace Harrett, Roy and Byron VanSickle and an infant sister.

He will be remembered with fondness by his children Jeff VanSickle (Janet) of Chatham, Gail Eskritt (Marc) of Blenheim and John VanSickle (Brenda) of Florida, by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Leo and Melba farmed for many years with the help of their sons, just outside of Dresden.  After working as a milkman, he took a job and eventually retired from Fram in Chatham.  In his spare time, he enjoyed working with horses.

Cremation has taken place.  Visitation will be held at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Friday May 21, 2021.  A private family interment will follow in Dresden.

Friends wishing to attend the visitation must call the Funeral Home at 519-676-9200 to schedule a visitation time.  The Bereavement Authority of Ontario mandates that everyone must wear a face covering in the Funeral Home.

Leo was a very caring man. He and I had many discussions regarding the responsibilities of care giving when he was looking after Melba. May the knowledge of his caring and devotion keep you uplifted during this difficult time.

My heartfelt sympathy go out to the family. Having a family member living at the Oaks, Leo was very kind in assisting whenever the staff were busy. On one particular occasion I remember he wheeled mom out to my car. Just a wonderful person and gentlemen. My thoughts and prayers are with you all. Carol Armstrong
