Clayt Wheeler of Blenheim passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance on Thursday June 28, 2018. Clayt was born in London, the son of the late Glenn & Elizabeth “Honey” (Legue) Wheeler.
For many years, Clayt and his wife Cathy (MacDonald) made Erieau their home where they raised their three children Darryl (Kit), Andrew (Lindsay) and Lindsay (Mike). Clayt enjoyed being a Granddad to four wonderful young men; Nate, Ben, Beckett and Aidan.
Clayt was a long-time employee of Sykes Trucking, a member of the Erieau Volunteer Fire Department and the Blenheim Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 185. His retirement years saw a move to Blenheim where he enjoyed visiting friends and going for drives in the country.
He was the brother and brother-in-law of Glenda (Fred), Susan (Craig), MaryKay (Brian), Tammy who predeceased him in 1999 (Barrie), Mark (Karen) and Terry. He will be missed by the Clan MacDonald.
Friends and family are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Friday from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service for Clayt officiated by Pastor Rick Dressler will be held in the Maple City Baptist Church, 500 Indian Creek Road West in Chatham on Saturday June 30, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation will follow with a family interment in Evergreen Cemetery at a later date.
Friends wishing to remember Clayt with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Erieau Firefighters Association or the Lung Association.
