Gerdie (Tuyp) Tol of Blenheim passed away suddenly at the age of 84 at her home.

Born in Holland September 26, 1933 she emigrated to Canada in 1956. Gerdie worked at Southwestern Regional Centre in Dietary for 32 years and retired from there. She was predeceased by her loving husband and best friend Hank Tol on March 3, 2016.

She will be sadly missed by her lovely daughter Fran Tol of Charing Cross and Roger McClatchey of Chatham, her lovely granddaughter Alicia Chartier (Tol) and her husband Jordan of Chatham and her great grand children Richard and Abigail Chartier.

Gerdie enjoyed weekly, visiting her favourite stores in Blenheim.  For years she made slippers, hats and mitten sand donated them to organizations in Chatham Kent.  She enjoyed Bowling on Thursdays and spending time with her family.

We would like to thank Dr. Tom Perkins and staff and the VON as they went above and beyond their duties.

Gerdie was predeceased by her son Richard Tol in 1989 and her daughter Deborah (Creamer) Tol in 2007. She was also predeceased by her Mom and Dad in Holland and by 9 brothers and 3 sisters also of Holland.

In keeping with Gerdies wishes cremation has taken place. There will be no Funeral Home visitations or services. A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Friends wishing to remember Gerdie with a memorial donation are asked to consider the World of Life Church Food Bank in Blenheim.

I am so sorry to hear of Gertie's loss., and your loss of a beautiful, and strong lady. Did I not just see her in the emergency room at the Chatham Hospital? We had a talk, and she expressed her views, which I sweetly appreciated. I am so sorry to hear of your loss. Gertie is a very passionate lady, and I am so sad to hear of your loss. And special condolences to Auntie's daughter Connie (Tol) & husband David McTavish as well as their children Stephanie & Dave now that you have suffered this final loss. So sad.

My heartfelt condolences go out to all of the family. Auntie suffered the greatest heartbreak a mother can go through not once but twice when Dickie and Debbie passed away. She was the last survivour of thirteen siblings. Always full of life. Rest in peace.

What a pleasure it always was to have a chat with her when we met her at Shoppers or elsewhere. Always displayed a cheery smile and always looked at life in a positive way despite the hardships she had to endure. Rest in peace!

My deepest condolences to you all. Pietje Gaartje was a very lovely lady who spoke her mind. We loved that about her. We enjoyed having her here last year. I spoke to her just last week on the Phone and couldn't stop laughing at all the outragious things she said . We are all going to miss her so much, but we know that her departure will leave a giant hole into your hearts. Love from us all here in Holland.

I only knew Gertie through working at Sobeys, and I loved when she came into the store and through my till. She was kind and sassy and just a fun lady who sparked joy. I enjoyed hearing her stories and having a good laugh. She will be missed by many who work there, myself included. I am so sorry for your loss and praying for peace during this time.

Gertie trained me when I started in dietary way back when... she had a great since of humour ... I enjoyed over visits when she came into No Frills when I worked there.. RIP Gertie your with your Hank now.

My sincerest condolences to Gerdie's family. I have known Gerdie for many years, through both my Grandmothers as well as working with her myself in Dietary..and later at the bowling alley. She was a fiesty lady that spoke her mind....and always called me Kate! I shall miss her but know she is up there with her children where she really wanted to be!
