Dr. Jerrold “Jerry” Thomson of Erie Beach passed away at the Chatham Kent Health Alliance on Tuesday November 17, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Jerry was born in Weymouth England. He was a well educated man, believing that all the knowledge one needs in life is written down and simply needs to be found. Jerry studied in England to become a physician. He practised in Australia, St. Louis, Kincardine, Markham and Chatham. Jerry met and married Marilyn (Jackson) in Toronto and they have been each others best friend for the last 36 years. Taking time off from his practice, Jerry and Marilyn bought a sailboat and traveled for a year around the Bahama Islands before settling in Erie Beach. Missing their father are Sue Zuanich and her husband John of Park City Utah, Mandy Vowles of Toronto and Nick Thomson of Toronto. Jerry is the proud grandfather of Jordon Vowles of Toronto. Cremation has taken place. A Celebratrion of Jerry’s life will be held in the Blenheim United Church on Saturday November 21, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. In keeping with Jerry’s lifetime ambition of helping people, friends wishing to honour him with a memorial donation are asked to consider the United Way or the Alzheimers Society.
