Dorothy P. Wright (Fraser), a resident of Blenheim passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday December 30th, 2022. She was born in Ridgetown and was the daughter of the late Alvin and Hazel (Turner) Fraser. She is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years, Allison Wright. Dear mother of Glenn Wright of Dusseldorf Germany and mother-in- law to Jackie Wright of Blenheim. Loving grandmother of Ashley (late Bradley) DeBoer, Justin (Pauline) Wright and Amber (Jordan) Scott. Adoring great grandmother to Kamryn DeBoer and Rylee Wright. Cherished sister of Irene (late Don) Koyle and predeceased by her infant sister Helen Fraser. Caring sister-in-law to Patricia (Doug) Haskell and loving aunt to all of her nieces and nephews. Cherished friend to her chosen daughter Eileen Lindsay.

Dorothy loved spending time with her family and enjoyed visits with her son Glenn. She was very proud of her grandchildren and would do anything for them. She especially loved playing with her great grandchildren whether it was having a tea party, reading books or playing on the floor.

She was always available to listen, give advice, give a hug or soothe a crying baby. She was loving, caring and kind and became known as “Granny” to so many due to her nurturing ways.

Dorothy (Granny) could be found mending or sewing, reading novels or doing crosswords. She liked to go for walks, work outdoors in the yard, go for rides in her Chevy Malibu or go for coffee with her friends. She was very independent and determined and was known for handing out witty remarks.

Caring, loving and supportive neighbors and friends will miss her dearly, as she was a staple in the neighborhood, known for keeping watch or lending a hand whenever needed.

She has left us with so many fond memories that we will love and cherish forever.

As per her wishes, a private service and burial will take place at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday January 4th, 2023. Friends and family wishing to remember Dorothy (Granny) are encouraged to donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation https://www.heartandstroke.ca/

Condolences

To the Wright family, we express our deepest condolences and carry you in our hearts. Our family had the joy of being neighbors to Dorothy and Alison for 7 years and friends for another 20. We cherish our memories of Dorothy. We remember her great humor and ability to remember the smallest of details. She made everyone feel valued through her active listening. She wasn't just attentive, she would be excited and expressive, responding to every word! She made every person - child or adult, feel so special and important. We have especially fond memories of Dorothy's welcoming heart to the new children that would come through our home. No matter how long they stayed with us, Dorothy would be excited to meet them and hear about every lost tooth. She looked out for all the neighborhood kids playing up and down the street and would call over as soon as she saw so much as a scuffed knee. We've often said there could be no better neighbor than Dorothy. With so much love, The Dorner Schleihaufs

Dorothy and my mom were best of friends, having spent time together growing up in Ridgetown. They continued that friendship up to the time when my Mom past away. My condolences to the Wright Family members.

To Glenn and the entire Wright family, I remember you along with your Mom & Dad frequently coming to visit your dear Mom's parents Alvin and Hazel, who were neighbors to my parents family home in Ridgetown (Bill & Jean Stover) May you cherish the many beautiful memories that your family shared together. So sorry to hear of Dorothy's passing. Your family is in our thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. From cousin Joanne and family.

I and my family had the privilege to know Dorothy when I moved to Blenheim 6 years ago. She was such a daily part of my life, always sharing little chats, smiles, and some great laughs. Along with the weekly visits in the yards in the neighborhood between each neighbor, she always had to come see the kids when they were over or outside. Dorothy always had a warm hug and huge smiles for them, as she would always love to see "HER" kids as she called them lol. ❤️... our hearts are broken to hear of her passing and we all send our love and condolences to the family and friends of the sweetest little, firecracker we knew as our neighborhood grandma 😘

Dorothy was a cherished friend to my mom for many many years. Her and my mom were active on the Altar Guild at church too. Sending you all love and hugs during this very difficult time.

Sending condolences to Dorothy's family. We used to walk by her home and we would stop and chat for quite awhile. She said what was on her mind, had a great sense of humour and was kind and caring. Heaven truly gained an angel. RIP Dorothy.

Dorothy will be truly missed by so many. Although we didn't see each other often always a smile or chuckle was there.
