Barbara Marion McMillan passed away after a lengthy illness with her family at her side. She was 91 years old. Barbara was born on January 30th, 1927 in Harwich Township. Her parents were Raymond Holdaway and Margaret (Galloway) Holdaway.

Beloved wife of Ross McMillan (1993) for 45 years. Loving Mother of the late Elaine McMillan (2014), Ruth Anne Aerssen of Chatham and Edward McMillan of RR#4 Blenheim. Barbara is survived by sisters Margery Roe (Murray) and Jean Crackel (late Jack Sparks and Ken Crackel). Four brothers predeceased her; Keith Holdaway & Jean, Kenneth Holdaway & Joan, Douglas Holdaway & Florine and Donald Holdaway & Peggy.

Barbara is also survived by 8 Grandchildren; Benjamin Aerssen & Christine, Sarah Aerssen & Wesley Myers, Caitlin Emerick & Eric, Jada Dawne McMillan, Suzanne Gurd & Wade, Murray McMillan & Amy, Leah Bratt & Bobby Hupp, Jonathan Bratt & Cathy McGarth as well as 9 Great-Grandchildren.

Barbara attended SS#19 Harwich School and Blenheim District High School. Later she trained as a Registered Nurse at the Public General Hospital in Chatham. She graduated in 1947 and was Valedictorian of her class. She worked in the Operating Room at St. Joseph’s Hospital and she did private duty nursing for many years. Later she worked for 25 years at Southwestern Regional Centre, retiring in 1992. She was a dedicated member of the Ridge Community Church, Blenheim, the Nurses Alumnae and the Blenheim Seniors Centre.

The McMillan family invites family and friends for visitation at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday from 2 – 5 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday August 16, 2018 at 11 a.m. Interment will take place in Evergreen Cemetery.

Friends wishing to remember Barbara with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Ridge Community Church or the Blenheim Seniors Centre.

Our deepest sympathy on the loss of your mother. She was a lovely lady. We remember our parents, Bob and Eleanor Pardo being long time friends with your parents and getting together often for dinner and a game of cards. Our thoughts are with you at this difficult time. Sincerely, The Pardo Family

Your mother was such a sweet kind woman. She took me under her wing when I worked with her at SRC. I will never forget her as she was such an inspiration to me & many others. A beautiful soul!!! Condolences to all of the family

My condolences on the loss of your mother. I worked with her at Southwestern Regional Centre many, many years ago, and I remember her well. She was always professional, very kind, caring and had a wonderful smile. So sorry for your loss.

Ruth Anne and Ed & families; I am very sorry for your loss of a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother. You are in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time.

My deepest condolences to all of you on the passing of Aunt Barb. She was a beautiful soul who had a great sense of humor and an unwavering kindness. I will always remember her coming to Ottawa when I was in university and calling me up (her great niece) to take me out for lunch. A treasured memory. She was always so sweet and generous and never forgot even the smallest details. I am sorry that I am unable to be there to pay my respects in person, but please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers.
