Donna Marie Musyj (Rivait)

With great sadness we announce the passing of our Donna. Her journey with Breast Cancer ended in the early hours of August 14th, 2017. It was at that moment she was able to open her arms and be reunited with her babies Derek (1991) and Dylan (1992).

To put the needs of others and to leave all judgement behind is unconditional love. She shared this love with children Zakry & Alisha, Isaiah & Brooklyn and Rebekkah, her grandson Zayden and her best friend Randy. She was eagerly awaiting the arrival of her next two grandchildren in the near future.

Raised in Ruscom by her parents Theresa and the late Armand Rivait, she will be missed by her siblings Ron, Deb & Jim Nadalin and their children Kelly, Matt and Kaitlyn, Rick and his children Sam, Jessica and Gabe, Kevin & Rose and his children Lisa, Mariah and Emily. Also left to mourn are many aunts, uncles, cousins, amazing friends and on Randy’s side Brad, Brenda (Shawn) Bilokraly and their family whom she loved dearly.

Family and friends are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Thursday where visitation will take place from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. Parish Prayers will take place at 7:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass for Donna will take place in St. Mary’s Church, Blenheim on Friday August 18, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. Friends are asked to go directly to the church as there will not be public visitation at the Funeral Home prior to the Mass. A private family interment will take place in St. Joachim.

Donna lived her life with unpretentious charm, intellectual curiosity, and a playful sense of humour. It was her contention that all things good could be achieved if you wore pyjamas. To that end, it was her expressed wish that you wear your pyjamas to her visitation at the Funeral Home and casual attire to the Mass at the Church. That alone would have made her happy.

Friends wishing to remember Donna with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Music Program at St. Anne’s Catholic School in Blenheim.

I believe that when someone teaches you so many things about life, they are true earth angels. I was blessed with such a friend. As time went by she became more like a sister who wanted to support me and be there without judgement during my path of life. Donna Musyj gave more of herself than any individual I have ever met. She taught those around her to persist no matter what and to find happiness in every day life instead of focussing on the negative. She taught me to believe in myself despite the challenges and to trust that "It's all good" - as she would say. The greatest gift she ever gave me was the gift of love for Elizebeth. She loved her infinitely and even in the final days, the bond with this toddler and her "adopted" Meme brought solace and comfort to Donna. It was quite magical that Elizebeth had the power to brighten the darkest of moments for Donna. I am so thankful for having been blessed with everything bestowed upon both of us by this wonderful woman who has now graduated to being a heavenly angel who will continue to watch over us all. You will be sorrowfully missed but certainly never forgotten my dear friend.
