Ruth Ann Pickle of Blenheim passed away with her family by her side on Monday August 29, 2016. Ruth Ann was born August 4, 1948 in Chatham to the late Clarence (2012) and Margaret (Tunks) Pfaff. She married the love of her life, Rev. Patrick Shawn Pickle on June 8, 1974 beginning a journey that would span over 42 years. Ruth Ann and Pat are the proud parents of Jennifer (Daryl) Atkinson of Kitchener, Rachel (Jason) Apthorp of Blenheim and Jeffrey Pickle of Blenheim and the very proud grandparents of Simon Atkinson and Cameron Atkinson. Ruth Ann was one of seven siblings and is survived by her sisters Marg (Rod) Miller of Port Parry, Mary (Dale) D’Clute of Strathmore AB and Penny Pfaff (Darryl Throsel) of Blenheim and by her brothers Harold (Sharon) Pfaff of Blenheim, John Pfaff of Calgary and Robert “Bob” Pfaff of St. Thomas. Also surviving her are 7 nieces, 4 nephews, 7 great-nieces and 5 great-nephews.

Ruth will be remembered as an accomplished pianist who shared her gift with a number of churches. She especially loved Christmas music…actually she loved the whole Christmas season and while the house would be decorated a month ahead, there were some decorations that would remain out for the entire year. She loved sitting on the patio with her family enjoying an evening barbeque. She loved people, she shared the gifts that were bestowed to her in life and she cared for all of God’s creatures. She was a Christian.

Family and friends are invited to the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Wednesday for visitation from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. and again at Glad Tidings Community Church on Thursday from 10 – 11 a.m.

A Funeral Service for Ruth Ann, conducted by Pastor Eric Revie will take place at Glad Tidings Community Church on Thursday September 1, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Interment in Evergreen Cemetery. Acting as pallbearers will be Jeff Pickle, Jason Apthorp, Daryl Atkinson, Darryl Throsel, Jeremy Pfaff and Rod Miller. Flower bearers will include Simon Atkinson, Cameron Atkinson, Aidan Throsel and Kailyn Throsel.

Condolences

So sorry for your loss.

Dear family, My brothers & I were neighbours of Ruth Ann when she & her parents lived in Orford Twspl over 60 years ago. Ruth Ann was in the same class as my younger brother Stan who has also passed away. Her younger sister Margaret also attended Lee's School at the time. I remember when the family moved to Ridgetown & I saw Ruth Ann only once after that. She was a quiet & sincere child & I know that she would have brought joy, tenderness & love to your family. You have our condolences. Joanne (Shepley) Humphrey, David Shepley & Reid Shepley

Condolences to Ruth Ann's husband Patrick, her children and their families. My heart goes out to you all; letting a loved one go is difficult and then the time following is when one needs their friends and families to help walk through the new season. I want you to know I'll be praying for y'all - Ms Ruth Ann was a sweet, sincere and loving person - even in the short time that I knew her she never changed. My condolences to the Pickle family as she will be missed by all who knew her or even listen to her play. God had granted her a talent that now He will enjoy. I wrote a poem when my mother passed and would like to share it with you. It is called The Good Lord is Always Near. The Good Lord Is Aways Near When He decides to call us home There will be no place that we can hide As children we are all His own So Heaven shall be our last ride Jesus is perfect who knows what is best He has given His Word from the start We shall all pass away and be laid to rest Which on earth shall be our final part In Jesus we should trust As He gave His Life for us For Heaven is where we want to stay Ashes to ashes and dust to dust Death to the body but our soul is His to take The precious memories left behind shall last To be regarded as a comfort and meaningful keepsake This is all that is left of our past We shall have a glorious home with a brand new start In a place called Heaven which is far better than here Jesus is Love and it comes from a Pure Dedicated Heart So Remember the Good Lord Is Always Near My thoughts and Prayers are with you as Ruth is with God forever more. May He grant you the Strength as God Blesses those who mourn for they will be comforted. (Matt. 5:4)
