Richard Willimot of Blenheim passed away on Wednesday March 22, 2017. Richard was born 48 years ago to his parents Linda Willimot and the late Tom Willimot (2003). He will be remembered always by his sister and brother-in-law Cindy & Arnold Warwick of Ridgetown, their children Rebecca and Dennis who he loved so much and their dog Hollywood. He will be missed as well by his grandmother Helen Hazlett of Blenheim. Richard was predeceased by his grandparents Lloyd Hazlett, John Willimot, Rebecca Willimot-Smith and Charles Smith.

Richard faced some real challenges in life, being diagnosed with arthritis at the age of 15 that would eventually restrict his ability to walk. However, he faced his life with a positive attitude and a great degree of determination that he inherited from his dad. He attended Fanshawe College in London receiving a degree in Radio Broadcasting which he was able to use at CFCO and CKSY in Chatham. He was a founding member and instructor at the Taoist Tai Chi Society in Chatham. He self-taught himself the art of computer generated animation and was able to work with Dreamworks and Amblin Entertainment. His latest accomplishment was to start his own production company called Penguin Frog Studio that had ties in New York. One of Richard’s fondest memories was a trip to Ireland with his sister Cindy when they took their dad home and met their extended family there.

Richard’s wish was that this part of his life be shared with his immediate family. Cremation has taken place and his ashes will be scattered at one of his favourite places.

Friends wishing to remember Richard with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Arthritis Society.

Please accept my condolences at this difficult time. I was shocked to hear of Richard's passing. I remember him from my earlier Tai Chi experiences and was struck by his kindness and warm soul. He taught me Tai Chi as well as courage and perseverance. Even though I have not seen Richard in years, he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thinking of your family during this difficult time. God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, nor sun without rain but he did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears and light for the way. Todd, Lesa ( Rumble ) Natasha & Kyle

I'd like to extend my sincerest condolences and prayers to Richard's family at this time. I met Richard on the trip to Northern Ireland he so fondly remembered. I had the privilege of being present when he and his sister Cindy spread their Fathers ashes in Castlederg, County Tyrone. I remember Richard fondly as a kind, generous and funny individual who loved getting to know his extended Northern Irish family. Rest in Peace Richard. Fondly remembered by the Burke Family, Castlederg, Northern Ireland.

Richard was a wonderful person and a fantastic business partner in our animation studio. We had many great years doing animation together. Even though we both worked from home and communicated online, we did so for many years almost every day working on our art. He was a truly talented and dedicated professional and it was an honor to work with him and be his friend. He will be missed sorely by myself and the animation community. My heartfelt condolences go out to Richard's family.
