To the Nichol Family My thoughts & prayers are with you at this very difficult time, Tammy Holdaway

Rob, Jane, John, Tom and families, we remember our Aunt Eug with fondness. Bright, talented, creative, generous and curious; despite the distance, she tried hard to keep connected with us and was a good aunt. She always encouraged us to explore our own talents, keep an open mind, and be inquisitive about the world, and was unfailingly supportive of us in our adventures. Her gifts would arrive unexpectedly, but always showed careful thought. One of our favorite shared memories was at Uncle Isaac's funeral, when we were quite young and didn't know any of the people gathered there. Afterwards at the house, with her typical kindness to young children, she took each of us by the hand and we went for a walk to the corner store, where she bought us Cokes and told us that we shouldn't drink too much of it because "If it could eat a penny, imagine what it could do to your stomachs!" The moment we arrived home, we started looking for a penny to put into Coke to see if it would really happen...and it did. In recent years, long phone conversations replaced personal visits; she always tried to keep us abreast of the news of Blenheim and our extended family. We're sorry we cannot attend the memorial, but please know our thoughts are with you.

Eugenia was the best canvasser I have ever had the pleasure to know. She was so enthusiastic and due to her efforts we were told that we had set a record. She even called her son, I believe who lived out west, to contribute. We had some long telephone conversations getting to know each other, which I found fascinating. She was a truly remarkable lady, happy to have met her, my condolences to her family.

I say good bye to my favourite teacher at St Mary's School. You always showed me kindness and encouragement. Rest in Peace

Mrs. Nichol's was my kindergarten only a few short years ago. I just seen her not that long ago and was surprised that she still remembered me. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing! She was so patient and was always my favorite teacher. Hugs to the family.

Sincere sympathy to all the family.

so sorry for your loss

What a wonderful person Eugenia was. For many years Eugenia lived down the road from our family residence (Verstraete). She was always willing to visit and had many stories to tell - about her family and other topics. She loved working with children and I had the privilege of teaching at St. Mary's School with her. At St. Mary's Hall some of the pictures she painted on the wall in her kindergarten classroom still remain in what is now a cloakroom or a place to sit and visit with others when at the facility. Eugenia will be missed but not forgotten. Our condolences to the family.

So sorry to hear of Eugenia's passing. Such a lovely lady. I read daily from the "Psalms Now" that she presented to me at my baptism.

I'll never forget Mrs. Nichol. She was a very kind loving teacher that was always there for me!! May she rest in peace. Corinne Trudell

I have many happy memories of Eugenia since we taught together at St. Ambrose in Chatham and we both taught Grade One across the hall from each other at St. Mary's in Blenheim. We had many conversations and laughs and memorable times with the children in our classes. Eugenia and I spent some good times reminiscing about our friendship over at Serenity this summer when my husband, Pierre, was also there . My sincere condolences to you, Bob, and your children and grandchildren.

Rob, Jane, John, Tom & families Thinking of you during this sad time . I can't help but smile thinking about how your mother made us parents sit down in the students desks in grade 2 and had us practise printing the alphabet! She wanted to make sure we had it right before we helped our kids ! She loved teaching & was a favorite teacher of many!

This lady was remarkably memorable for her humanity. She had EXACTLY the right job. She was my son's K teacher and we are forever grateful to have had the good fortune for that.

May peace and comfort find you during this difficult time.

Heartfelt thoughts go out to the Nichol family today, so sorry for your loss. ♥

I send my prayers and condolences to the family. I will miss her friendship, compassion, and caring ways. Also the discussions we had about life and love. Sending many prayers, and hugs to the family at this time.

Mrs. Nichol taught me so much in life. It's true that everything you really need to know, you learn in Kindergarten. She was my SK teacher and my dad had a severe accident just before school started. She really helped me through that year and every time, up until the last time I saw her (in Blenheim with my husband and two children), told me this story.... She remembered that I had been waiting in the coat room for quite some time after school and was sitting with my arms wrapped. When she asked what I was doing, I said, "I'm loving me." She always said I taught her so much that day. . I got to celebrate her 25th year of teaching and retirement with her, and she came to my wedding shower and wedding. I am now a teacher. I have taught Kindergarten for 14 years and am now a teacher consultant supporting Kindergarten teachers. She has truly been an inspiration to me in both my personal and professional life! My thoughts and prayers are with her family.

Mrs. Nichol was by far, one of the best teachers I had. Now, this may be from the heart and mind of a kindergarten child who everytime she saw Mrs. Nichol it was 1976 all over again. She had a smile that could brighten any room. It always amazed me how she never forgot who I was. Anytime I was in town visiting my parents and we ran into Sobey's and she was there she would say "Hello Jenny" like no time had passed. The year she taught me she gave all us in the class a bell ornament with a mouse on it along with our name and the date. It sat at the top of my parents Christmas tree until I had my own Christmas tree and there every year since it's spot remains at the top of the tree. The bell will always remind me of her, her kindness and how she will always remain a favourite teacher in my heart. Thank you Mrs. Nichol.

Very Sorry
