Janet Patricia Scott of Ridgetown passed away peacefully in her sleep on Tuesday September 30, 2014 as a result of complications of Kidney Failure. Janet was born on September 26, 1951 in Chatham to Arthur James Scott (1997) and Nancy (Boyd) Scott (1990) of Ridgetown. She is survived by her brother William B. Scott (Ruth) of Blenheim and by her sister Heather Gaze (David) of Kelowna, B.C.

Janet was educated at Ridgetown Public School and Ridgetown District High School. She attended Western University in London Ontario. She graduated from Western with a B.A. English and obtained a Masters of Library Science. After graduation she found employment as a School Librarian at the G.R. Davis Elementary School in Fort McLeod, Alberta. Janet made many friends in Fort McLeod and influenced many students with her love of books, her cupcake treats and Garfield cakes. She returned to Ridgetown in 1998 and found employment with the Municipality of Chatham-Kent first in the Museum and then with the Library. She worked in many Libraries in Chatham-Kent with her last position being at the Children’s Library at the Chatham Central Library.

Janet was known by many children authors first at Fort McLeod and recently in Chatham. She enjoyed photographing friends, the Rockies and local scenery. A visit to the New York City Library and Tiffany’s were recent highlights of her travelling.

Family and friends are invited to gather at the Blenheim Community Funeral Home on Sunday October 12, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. for a Memorial Service officiated by Rev. Bill Terris. A luncheon and time to visit with family will follow. Friends wishing to remember Janet with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Chatham-Kent Libraries.
