GULUK, Dymitr ‘Mike’

Peacefully at age 86 on July 21,2010.

Born in Dworce,Poland in 1924, Mike served 2 countries in WW2, a sailor with the Polish Navy and a radio specialist with the British Royal Air Force.

Mike married Helena Borek in 1947 and they proudly immigrated to Canada in 1952 where they settled in Sudbury. A long time employee of the Canadian Pacific Railroad, along with his wife Helen, he became an active member of the local Polish legion (SPK).

Mike and Helen retired to St Catherines in 1982 where they continued their Legion activities and involvement in the Polish community.

Predeceased by his wife of 49 years Mike moved to Chatham to be near his daughter Anne in 1997 where he spent the last 13 years of his life as the ‘resident gardener’ of the Chatham Retirement Resort. Even as the years took their toll on him, Mike remained a supporter the Legion (Br 28) and Polish Canadian Club in Chatham.

A good husband to Helen.

A good father to Michael Guluk and Anne McArthur.

A good father-in-law to Sandy Guluk and Ric McArthur.

A good grandfather to Lauren, Stephen, Lani, Brian and Cody.

A good companion to Stella.

A good friend to Mary.

A GOOD MAN! A GOOD LIFE!

Special thanks to Anne for the unselfish and loving care provided.

A private family service will be held in St Catherines where Mike will be reunited with Helen at Victoria Lawn Cemetery. Friends wishing to remember Mike with a memorial donation are asked to consider the Canadian Cancer Society.
